day night Youth Brett Maher Jersey , Jerry Jones had some tough questions to answer.Dallas was only able to muster 14 points and looked pretty lackadaisical while doing so. They didn’t score any points in the second half and they got sloppy on defense. Overall, it was a forgettable night.Such a performance is never ideal from your coaching staff, especially if they were already on thin ice. When you add in the fact that they had two weeks to prepare for it all, well it seems like a formula that would lead to some change, does it not? It’s worth noting that the Cowboys did make a coaching change just last week. They fired offensive line coach Paul Alexander, promoted Marc Columbo Youth Maliek Collins Jersey , and brought Hudson Houck back. When Jerry Jones was asked last night if there was any scenario where he would make an in-season coaching change, ESPN’s Todd Archer reports he had a very short answer. This includes an offensive coordinator change.Jones went on to elaborate that he’s not happy but will have patience.Of course, anything is possible. Just because Jerry Jones says he doesn’t anticipate a coaching change happening doesn’t mean a coaching change isn’t necessarily happening. As Pro Football Talk pointed out, Jerry Jones coincidentally said the exact same thing eight years prior to Monday night’s remarks and wound up making a change just days later. When you lose in the NFL you have to deal with long weeks. At 3-5, the Dallas Cowboys are about to deal with one of the longest of their season, and that’s because it’s a short one as far as preparation time is concerned. Oh Youth La'el Collins Jersey , the irony. One of the murkier details of Sunday’s Dallas Cowboys loss at the hands of the Washington Redskins was the snap infraction called against L.P. Ladouceur right before Brett Maher was going to attempt a 47-yard field goal to tie the game. The penalty happened, five yards were added, and Maher missed from 52. The Cowboys lost, Washington won, and that was seemingly the end of it. The NFL did offer an explanation video on the penalty, but that didn’t seem to offer any clarity at all. Late Sunday night Youth Antwaun Woods Jersey , the latest episode of the Doomsday Podcast with Ed Werder and Matt Mosley dropped. On the episode Werder discusses that Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden previously alerted the game’s officials to the idea that L.P. Ladouceur might do something worthy of a snap infraction. It’s not uncommon for coaches and/or players to talk about things like that with officials before games, but obviously considering when this penalty was called increases the magnitude of the situation. The fishiness of the penalty on its own has upset plenty of Cowboys fans, knowing that Jay Gruden highlighted it certainly isn’t going to make anyone feel like it was more legitimate.
; can he run his way to league MVP? Ezekiel Elliott was absolutely fantastic on Sunday in the Dallas Cowboys 26-24 win over the Detroit Lions. I haven’t seen a Cowboys team ride a guy to victory since Emmitt Smith helped them win the division in the season finale against the New York Giants back in 1993. Most of have heard of that story http://www.cowboysauthorizedshops.com/authentic-cole-beasley-jersey , if you didn’t watch it yourselves, where Smith would battle through a shoulder injury to help the Cowboys pull out a 16-13 overtime win. The mothership recently did a documentary on it.Smith carried the ball 32 times for 168 yards and caught the ball 10 times for another 61 yards, totaling 229 scrimmage yards. The victory gave the Cowboys the no. 1 seed in the NFC, helping them pave the way for the second of two-straight Super Bowl Championships. It was a performance for the ages.Ezekiel Elliott was used in a similar capacity on SundayJason Garrett would channel his ‘90s Cowboys team and leverage heavily on his star running back on Sunday. Zeke finished the game with a career-high 240 scrimmage yards. 152 of those were on the ground, while he added 88 more as a receiver. It was an all-around exceptional game by Zeke.Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty ImagesThere is a lot to love about what we saw from Elliott on Sunday. For starters, this kid is extremely durable. There were a handful of times where it appeared Zeke came up gimpy and headed over to the sideline. Rod Smith would come in for a play or two, but then Zeke was back out there ready to make another amazing play. When you look around the NFL and see running backs all over the league ailing right now, it makes you appreciate Elliott’s durability.Leonard Fournette (hamstring), Dalvin Cook (hamstring), Devonta Freeman (knee), Joe Mixon (knee), and LeSean McCoy (ribs) have all missed time this season due to injury and we’re just a quarter of the way through the season. Zeke hasn’t missed a single game in his NFL career due to injury. While his toughness provides a welcoming availability that we all can enjoy on Sundays, it’s what Elliott actually does on the field that has us impressed. Zeke is a do-it-all running back. He can get you the dirty yards and he can be electrifying in space. He has the patience to wait for his blocks, and he has the burst to exploit them. He can grind out rushing yards all day, but he can also be a weapon as a receiver as well. Zeke’s 38-yard touchdown reception against the Lions on Sunday marks the third-straight season he’s taken a big screen play to the house. And let’s not forget that amazing over the shoulder catch he had on that wheel route late in the fourth quarter.Zeke’s receiving skills shined bright against DetroitWhile Elliott has done some damage as a receiver, it was the first time in his career that damage was done with his hands and not his legs. This third quarter run by Zeke illustrates how he’s so good at so many different things.First, he has the awareness to stutter-step to avoid being tackled in the backfield. Then, he finds his running lane and explodes through the hole. He then uses his track-and-field star skills to hurdle a defender and he’s off to the races for a big chuck of a yards. Then, my favorite part, he uses his power to make sure it takes the defensive back a good seven yards to bring him down. As Garrett would say, he’s just a really good football player.Zeke is currently leading the league in rushing and to be honest Dak Prescott Jersey , it’s not even close.Elliott has been one of the great running backs since the first moment that he came into the league. After Sunday’s performance, Zeke’s already eclipsed the 3,000 yards rushing mark. Only one player has reached it faster and it’s that Hall of Fame running back who broke the NFL single-season rushing record his second year in the league... maybe you’ve heard of him? While Elliott is off to a fast start career-wise, he’s just now reaching the point in the season where he starts to really take off. For example:In his first two games of the year (2016, 2017, and 2018), he’s averaged 65 yards per game.In his next two games (2016, 2017, and 2018), he’s averaged 120 yards per game.In the two games following (2016 and 2017), he’s averaged 138 yards per game.I don’t know if it’s his lack of reps in the preseason to preserve his health or if it’s the fact that the Cowboys have always had a couple new offensive line starters in each of Zeke’s years in the league, but he always starts slow only to turn it up about this time of the season. Ezekiel Elliott is just getting warmed up.With Elliott’s 152-yard rushing performance on Sunday, he now has an average of 104.8 yards per game in his NFL career. That moves him ahead of Jim Brown for the all-time lead.Officially, Zeke doesn’t qualify to be on this list until he hits 750 rushing attempts. He only has 637 career attempts right now, but he should make it official somewhere near the midpoint of the season as long as he doesn’t dip below an average of 104 yards during those next few games.Let’s continue to feed ZekeThe Cowboys will continue to put the ball in the hands of their best offensive playmaker. When the ground game is flowing, the game moves a lot slower for Dak Prescott. When the defense is loading the box, the secondary becomes a lot less congested for the receivers. Good things happen when Zeke’s on a roll.If the Cowboys keep winning football games and Zeke continues to play like he has so far, you could be looking at your next league MVP. Elliott finished fourth in voting in 2016 after a great rookie season where he led the league in rushing with 1,631 yards. His greatness was overshadowed a bit by his fellow rookie teammate Dak Prescott who had a phenomenal season as well. Some weren’t sure if it was Dak or Zeke carrying this team to a 13-3 record, but there shouldn’t be much mystery about who the leader of this offense is now. All of this not withstanding, but Zeke’s production was also downplayed due to the Cowboys strong offensive line. Ron Leary and Doug Free have since parted and Travis Frederick has yet to play a snap this year. The Cowboys have three new pieces to their offensive line since Zeke’s rookie season Authentic Travis Frederick Jersey , yet Elliott appears to not be suffering any ill effects.People can try to make cases against him all they want, but he’s the real deal. In last week’s playoff tracker, we looked at why the Cowboys faced a must-win game in Washington: Well, the Cowboys lost, and their playoff odds took a big dive. And even with a win against the Titans in two weeks (which is by no means a given for this team), the Cowboys will not hit the halfway mark of the season with a winning record.Winter is here for the Dallas Cowboys. What is the escalation of a must-win game? Probably a desperation game. Which is why the Cowboys face a desperation game against the Titans: If the Cowboys win and improve to 4-4, their playoff increase to 32%. If they lose and drop to 3-5, their playoff odds drop to just 11%. You might feel that these numbers are too generic and don’t apply to the specific situation of the Cowboys, and that may be true. So here’s a look at the 10 seasons in which the Cowboys started either 4-4 or 3-5: 10 seasons, 7.0 wins on average, lucked into the playoffs twice, nine wins as a ceiling. And they never made the playoffs - or had a winning record - after starting 3-5. Desperation.Other metrics also project the same old Jason Garrett song and dance, barring an improbable turnaround in player and coaching performance.Pythagorean Formula: 8.2 winsElo Ratings: 7.8 winsFootball Outsiders: 7.7 winsBut this is nothing new, as we pointed out after Week 3, when we said Winter is Coming for the Cowboys.Nothing has changed. We’re just further along into yet another average Garrett season. And keep this in mind: With another coach, the Cowboys might be sitting pretty at 5-2, but Garrett’s conservative game management on the final offensive drives is a key reason why the Cowboys didn’t get a chance to win both the Texans and Redskins games. What bugs me most is Garrett should know better; his conservative game management has has cost him multiple games, as Michael Strawn summarizes here in his most recent article. Garrett and his staff now have two weeks to develop a gameplan to defeat the 3-4 Titans. Fail at that task and Garrett should start polishing his resum茅 and start tidying up his desk.

Cowboys LB Sean Lee sidelined by hamstring injury - Todd Archer, ESPNLost among all the other bad headlines and talking points from Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks is the fact that Sean Lee went down with a hamstring injury that will once again make him miss time. Cowboys DT Tyrone Crawford encouraged NFL will further discuss controversial roughing-the-passer penalty - David Moore, SportsDayThe NFL is discussing the roughing the passer rule after so many penalties being called. Tyrone Crawford, for one, is grateful. DeMarcus Lawrence likes the pressure - @PFFRight now it might be hard to think positive thoughts about the Cowboys, but it should be some consolation that DeMarcus Lawrence is still a fantastic pass rusher. He is third in the NFL in pressures so far. Byron Jones is the best cornerback in the NFL - @PFFThe Tank isn’t the only member of this defense that is playing lights out. Report: Cowboys lose Adolphus Washington, re-sign DL Caraun Reid - Patrik Walker, 247 SportsSome more roster churning occurred on Tuesday as the Cincinnati Bengals signed Adolphus Washington off of the Cowboys’ practice squad. As a response, the Cowboys made some moves of their own. This Dallas Cowboys player could be key to reigniting the passing offense - Steven Mullenax, Fan SidedThe woes of the passing offense for Dallas have been well-documented, but what is the solution? Perhaps it could be new addition and lone bright spot Tavon Austin. When DeAndre Hopkins had a chance to make a play in overtime on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, Houston's star receiver was intent on redeeming himself after losing a rare fumble in the third quarter. He did that with a spectacular 49-yard catch and run that got the Texans in scoring range, and Ka'imi Fairbairn kicked a 36-yard field goal to lift the Texans to a 19-16 win.Hopkins, who finished with 151 yards receiving, grabbed a short pass from Deshaun Watson and twice spun away from would-be tacklers to stretch the play."I fumbled, so I knew I had to make a play Color Rush Connor Williams Jersey ," Hopkins said. "There was a lot of guys downfield but I wasn't trying to go down easy. A field goal would win the game and I knew that. I knew where I was, and I felt guys coming around me."Coach Bill O'Brien said Hopkins approached him after the fumble and simply said: 'I'll make up for that.' Watson knew he would do that when he threw the ball his way."Playmakers make plays whenever we need him, and that was a situation where we needed him to make a play," Watson said. "I threw it up for him to make a play, and he did what he had to do."The Cowboys got the ball first in OT but had to punt when Zach Cunningham stopped Ezekiel Elliott for no gain on third-and-1. Coach Jason Garrett defended his decision not to go for it."We just felt like at that point in the game, the way our defense was playing, the idea was to pin them down there," he said.Houston was just 1 of 5 in the red zone on Sunday, with Fairbairn making four field goals to help the Texans to the victory. It is Houston's first win over the Cowboys (2-3) since the team's first game on Sept. 8, 2002, ending a three-game losing streak to Dallas. The Texans (2-3) did it in front of a franchise-record crowd of 72 Youth Tyron Smith Jersey ,008, which was peppered with plenty of Cowboys fans.Houston defensive end Jadeveon Clowney didn't realize the Texans hadn't beaten the Cowboys in 16 years, but did understand the importance of the victory."This is a big win, not just for us but for the city of Houston," he said. "Cowboys are America's No. 1 team. For us to go out there and win at home was very big for us. We needed that win."Deshaun Watson threw for 375 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Texans, who won in overtime for the second straight week.Dak Prescott had 208 yards passing and a touchdown but threw two interceptions for the Cowboys. Elliott, who entered the game as the NFL's leading rusher, was limited to 54 yards rushing."We just haven't gotten it going on offense," Prescott said. "I don't know if there's one thing you can pinpoint, but we've got to figure it out."The Texans were driving late in the fourth quarter when Xavier Woods intercepted Watson, who threw under heavy pressure Color Rush Allen Hurns Jersey , with 10 seconds left and returned it 15 yards to give Dallas the ball at its 47. Kareem Jackson nearly intercepted Prescott on the next play before his Hail Mary on the last play of regulation was knocked down in the end zone by receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who came in to play defense.A 27-yard pass interference call by Byron Jones on a ball intended for Hopkins got Houston to the 1-yard line in the third quarter. But two failed running plays followed by an incomplete pass forced another field goal which gave the Texans a 16-13 lead with about 8 1/2 minutes remaining. The Cowboys tied it up on a 48-yard field goal with less than six minutes left. That drive was highlighted by a 44-yard pass by Prescott to Tavon Austin that he made after escaping sacks by J.J. Watt, Brandon Dunn and Zach Cunningham.Prescott's second interception came when Johnathan Joseph broke up a pass and rookie Justin Reid caught it just before it hit the turf in the third quarter. The Texans drove to the 3-yard line on the ensuing possession before the drive stalled and Fairbairn kicked a 21-yard field goal to tie it at 13-13.Hopkins fumbled after a catch early in the third quarter and it was recovered by Jourdan Lewis and returned to the Houston 16. The Cowboys regained the lead when Prescott found Allen Hurns in the back of the end zone on a 3-yard touchdown pass that made it 13-10.The Texans drove to the 2-yard line later in the second but Watson's pass on third down fell incomplete and they settled for a 20-yard field goal to push the lead to 10-6.INJURIESHouston RB Lamar Miller, who dealt with a chest injury this week, was active but did not play. ... Texans CB Kayvon Webster left the game in the first quarter with a quadriceps injury and didn't return.COUTEE'S DANCEThe Texans took their first lead when rookie Keke Coutee, who made his debut last week, scored on a 1-yard run early in the second quarter. Coutee celebrated his first career touchdown with a dance called the Shiggy Challenge from a Drake song called "In My Feelings" which includes the line: "Kiki do you love me?"He had previously said he didn't like that song because he was tired of everyone singing it to him but seems to be past that now."I just gave the people what they wanted to see," he said with a laugh.UP NEXTCowboys: Host the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday.Texans: Host the Buffalo Bills next Sunday.

e squad Womens Anthony Walker Jersey , release C/G Jamil Douglas The Colts have added former Falcons guard Sean Harlow to their practice squad and released C/G Jamil Douglas from it. Harlow, who is just 23 years old, was the Atlanta Falcons’ 2017 4th round pick, was released at on September 1st during roster cutdowns. He played his college football for Oregon State and started 23 games at left tackle and 14 games at right tackle. The Colts have done well to have players with positional flexibility, and developing a young player like Harlow on the practice squad creates an opportunity to further add depth to the offensive line. Jamil Douglas was signed to the practice squad back on September 2rd and has played in 17 games with six starts. He has been a part of the Falcons, Patriots Authentic Darius Leonard Jersey , and Dolphins rosters. Douglas was drafted by the Dolphins in the 4th round of the 2015 draft. If the Colts believe in their coaching staff’s ability to develop players, this is possibly an opportunity to develop a young talent into a possible rotational backup down the road.Film Room: Quenton Nelson vs Philadelphia Eagles — Pass Blocking The Colts just suffered a rather heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in a game where their offense was relatively ineffective. With the passing game looking out of sync and very little yards gained in the running game, it’s a good time to look at the offensive line and see where the struggles came from.Last week, Brett broke down Quenton Nelson’s performance in the running game against the Washington Redskins as the team as a whole was very effective running the ball. This week I’ll be looking at Nelson in the passing game as the Colts weren’t very efficient running the ball on Sunday and relatively abandoned that aspect of the game plan pretty early on. Nelson was matched up against the likes of Michael Bennett, Haloti Ngata, and Fletcher Cox so it’ll be key to his development to see how he fared against these really good players. The passing game is still trying to find its groove with Andrew Luck coming off his big injury Authentic J'Marcus Webb Jersey , a new system in place under Frank Reich, and injuries at the offensive tackle position. Quenton Nelson is still growing and adjusting as an NFL pass protector but he showed a lot of improvement in his third NFL game. Our first clip here has Nelson matched up with defensive end Brandon Graham. Nelson does a great job of initially getting his hands up and keeping them inside. He’s able to initially win the rep and force Graham inside and out of the play. Where Nelson makes a rookie mistake here is that he gets too aggressive and tries to drive Graham out of the play entirely. Graham is too quick and is able to fight back into the play. Nelson finishes the rep off with a nice recovery to keep his quarterback protected. I liked the quick hands up and inside here by Nelson. It essentially wins the rep from the start as it would be very hard for Graham to recover and get a sack from that position. Overall its a solid rep from Nelson with a minor rookie mistake that nearly cost him. This one may be a little difficult to see here but Nelson does perhaps my two favorite things I like seeing from offensive guards. First he notices that his man goes inside and becomes Ryan Kelly’s responsibility. Without hesitation, Nelson finds work and immediately helps seal the edge on Eagles’ pass rusher Derek Barnett. The second thing he does here is playing to the whistle and finishing his block. He puts Barnett on the ground even though the ball is away from him. This play checks every box from any offensive line coach. Finding work and finishing blocks are perhaps the two most important little things that an offensive lineman can do to establish a presence on the field. This rep right here is perhaps Nelson’s worst of the day. He gets a bit over aggressive in his pass set and lunges forward way too quickly. Defensive tackle Destiny Vaeao surprises Nelson with a quick bull rush and is able to drive Nelson back into the pocket. As a result of being too aggressive, Nelson lost his base and hand placement. Luckily the pass was a quick, one read play and Nelson has the elite strength to limit the damage when he is beat like this. He does do a good job though of fighting his way back into a favorable position by the end of the play. This isn’t a great rep by Nelson but it does show my main concern with his play this far in his NFL career. He tends to get over aggressive and lunge out of his stance too much which leads to him being out of position. This rep is noticeable improvement from the last one. Here Nelson is patient out of his stance as he stays low and establishes his base as Haloti Ngata comes to him. As a result, Nelson is more prepared for the bull rush and is able to establish good hand placement and get proper footing so he isn’t driven back. This play is night and day from the last poor rep. Nelson in this rep accounts for the bull rush from the much stronger Haloti Ngata and is able to properly prepare for it by establishing his base rather than lunging forward. This rep right here is more of what I’d like to see Nelson do against defensive tackles to avoid getting driven into the QB’s lap.So this rep is a bit weird. Obviously Nelson accomplished the basic job of protecting the quarterback— against stud pass rusher Fletcher Cox nonetheless — but Nelson does make a few mistakes. He again is a little too aggressive against Cox which leads to Cox getting inside hand placement on Nelson’s chest. From then on www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com , Nelson is reeling as Cox keeps him off balance the entire time and Nelson is basically hopping back into the pocket.Nelson’s natural strength is able to keep Fletcher Cox away from the quarterback here but it is not a great rep. Once Nelson loses inside position from his initial over aggressiveness, he is reeling the rest of the rep and essentially dancing back into the pocket. This is a solid rep from Nelson, again against Destiny Vaeao. Nelson shows a good quick punch which initially drives Vaeao away from the play. Vaeao is able to work back though and counters Nelson’s hold to get a moment of separation. Nelson is then able to show impressive recovery as he comes back down the line to reestablish position and stay on his block. The initial punch combined with a very good recovery gets Nelson the win here. After Nelson initially won the rep, Vaeao is able to counter with a move that would usually get free against most guards. What makes Nelson potentially special is how he turns potential losses like this into decent reps that are wins. Our last rep we are going to look at is probably Nelson’s best of the day. Lined up against Michael Bennett, Nelson gets a very good initial punch which knocks Bennett off his intended path. Nelson then — rather than getting overaggressive — decides to ride Bennett on that too wide path and let Bennett run himself out of the play. This is a very savvy, veteran type move to do this to a player of Bennett’s caliber.Nelson is excellent here. It’s so hard for rookie lineman to not try and straight up win every single rep. Sometimes the right play is just letting the rusher run himself out of the play.Analysis:Quenton Nelson had a very solid game in pass protection against the Philadelphia Eagles. He made some rookie mistakes but his ability to recover with his strength and agility is what made him such a high draft pick for a guard. He shows off a really nice first punch in pass protection and when he establishes a good base with proper hand placement he is nearly impossible to beat.My only real negative that continues to show up on Nelson’s film is his over aggressiveness. At Notre Dame Indianapolis Colts T-Shirt , Nelson could get away with this since he is so strong and agile. In the NFL though, any missed step or over set results in getting driven into the backfield. Regardless, Nelson has shown some very positive strides in this department since the Cincinnati game.Nelson will continually get better as he continues to get snaps and will definitely show that he was worth his top 10 selection. For now though, I can confidently say that he did not allow any hurries or pressures in this game against the Eagles. He is certainly better than Pro Football Focus’ 55.0 grade he received this past weekend. I look forward to seeing how Nelson improves going into next week’s game against the Texans as Brett will likely return for this piece breaking down Nelson’s play in that game.
port on was certainly a tough one. The Buffalo Bills’ offense is statistically the worst in NFL history up to this point in the season but their defense is loaded with talent. Currently ranking as the third best defense in football Womens Kenny Moore Jersey , the Bills have many contributors such as Trent Murphy, Kyle Williams, Lorenzo Alexander, former Colt Jerry Hughes, Tre’Davious White, Jordan Poyer, and Micah Hyde. That is a ton of talent right there but none of those guys intrigued me as much as inside linebacker Matt Milano.Milano is a very underrated player and is the leader of the Bills defense. In only his second season out of Boston College, Milano has made a name for himself as a sure tackling, coverage linebacker. The former collegiate safety currently has 42 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss Authentic Joe Haeg Jersey , 1 interception, and 1 sack. Last year against the Colts, Milano tallied his career high 11 tackles. So what makes Milano such a good player on the Bills’ defense? Serving as the Thomas Davis in Head Coach Sean McDermott’s defense, Milano is the best coverage linebacker on the team. He is currently ranked as the 9th best linebacker in all of football according to PFF and has the 9th highest coverage grade among linebackers as well. So why am I worried about Milano for Sunday’s game? Let’s look at some film and find out.StrengthsPass DefenseLike I mentioned earlier, the strongest aspect of Milano’s game is his ability to play the pass. A former safety at Boston College, Milano understands proper depth in zone coverage and attacks violently downhill on underneath routes. In man, he’s very good at disrupting routes and staying even with whoever he is guarding. He is very solid athlete for a linebacker so he has the ability to make plays in all areas in pass defense. Colts’ receivers will have to be aware of Milano on underneath pass routes as he breaks up a lot of passes there. Our first clip shows Milano (#58) in zone coverage attacking downhill. Notice how quickly he goes from reading the quarterback’s eyes to breaking on the football. This is an excellent play to not only burst out of his back drop but to also locate the ball and get his hands inside to break up the pass. Our second clip again has Milano dropping into zone coverage. He floats back with Kyle Rudolph then comes up to defend the drag route. Milano is able to stick with the underneath drag route, even though the receiver is the NFL leader in receptions in Adam Thielen. Milano does a great job of staying with Thielen then is in perfect position to knock the ball away when it is thrown. Luck will have to be aware of Milano when checking down on Sunday.Run DefenseMilano is not an elite run defender but he is a very good form tackler who rarely misses tackles. He understands gap discipline as well as he is often found filling the correct gap on run plays. He isn’t great at stacking and shedding blockers but he knows how to evade them and still make plays. His relentless effort and speed allows for him to make plays all over the field, even when he appears to be out of the play. Our first clip shows how good of a run defender Milano is when he is kept clean. He fills the run lane very well here and breaks down his hips in the hole. When the running back tries to evade him, Milano is too quick and is able to bring him down for no gain. The Colts will have to get a body on Milano on Sunday in order to have any success running the ball. He is way too good when he is kept clean and unblocked.Again here we see Milano fill a big hole and bring down the running back for a minimal gain. A lot of linebackers would struggle in this situation as it is a one on one in a relative open field. Milano though plays this run like a veteran as he calmly fills the hole and breaks down to make the tackle. Runners rarely make him miss in space. I need to reiterate just how important it is for the Colts to get a lineman on him on every run play. When he is left clean Womens Skai Moore Jersey , the running game is rarely effective. AthleticismAs I mentioned earlier many times, Milano is a very good athlete for a linebacker. He fits the modern day trend of a slimmer linebacker— he’s only 6’0” 223 pounds— who can fly all over the field. He can make plays on all three levels of the field and has a relentless motor that makes him so useful on every down. He is even a very effective blitzer as his quickness and speed help him get into the backfield in a hurry. Our first clip here shows off how much ground he can cover sideline to sideline. Playing in zone coverage, he steps up as he notices quarterback DeShaun Watson begin to scramble. Still maintaining his zone discipline, Milano strafes down the line while keeping an eye on Watson. He then is able to run Watson down as he leaves the pocket and then limit him to a minimal gain. This type of sideline to sideline range is what defensive coordinators crave nowadays. This next rep shows another reason why he shouldn’t be kept clean in the run game. Once he notices that its a run, he flies downhill. He is able to sidestep the fullback and accelerate to the ball carrier to bring him down for a loss. This is a very impressive, athletic play by the sophomore that results in a loss on the play. His athleticism makes this play possible.Last positive clip for Milano but here is another area where he could impact the game on Sunday. The Bills don’t send Milano on many blitzes— mainly because they love him in pass coverage— but when he does blitz he is quite effective. Here against the Vikings, Milano comes on a delayed blitz. He is able to effortlessly sidestep the pass blocking running back and sack quarterback Kirk Cousins. This ability to blitz could show up against the Colts. Where the Colts can beat himPlay StrengthI have mentioned many times in this piece just how good Milano is when he is left clean. But what about when he is not left clean and he’s actually blocked? Well that is where he struggles. Not the best at stacking and shedding blockers, Milano tends to struggle to disengage. This is no surprise for a linebacker is only weighs 223 pounds as he just doesn’t have the necessary strength or size to shed blockers consistently. In this clip, you can see his struggles once engaged. Milano does a very good job of filling his run lane in this short yardage situation. The only problem is that he is driven back off the ball by the much bigger lineman. He ends up on his back by the end of the play, as the runner converts the first down right over top of him. Milano gives great effort and is excellent at avoiding blockers but definitely struggles to disengage once he is being blocked. Over AggressiveMilano is an excellent pass defender but he does struggle against play action. He tends to overcommit on play action and vacate the middle of the field when doing so. He has to be very aggressive in run defense so he can avoid blockers so this tends to lead to him losing depth on his zone drops. As a result Authentic Malik Hooker Jersey , the middle of the field is open a lot of the time against this Bills’ defense after play action. The Colts would be wise to take advantage of this overaggressiveness. This clip right here shows exactly what I was talking about. Milano flies inside on the playaction which vacates the middle of the field. This leads to a wide open throw on an intermediate throw into the vacated zone. Milano likely wasn’t going to be in position to make a play on this pass regardless but if he didn’t bite so hard on this play fake, he could have made this throw much tougher for Marcus Mariota. Andrew Luck would be wise to exploit this tendency on Sunday.AnalysisInside linebacker Matt Milano is one of the more underrated players on a very good defense full of solid players. Milano is an athletic linebacker who excels in pass defense. When defending the run, he is always in the right position. He is one of the better linebackers in football at evading blockers and making plays for little to no gain.Where the Colts can really exploit Milano is by making sure he always has a lineman on him in the run game and by using playaction to open up the middle of the field. Milano is great at avoiding blockers but struggles once he is engaged with them. The Colts be wise to utilize Quenton Nelson pulling to whichever side Milano is on in the run game as he will be able to get a body on him and drive him back. Overall, Milano is a very solid player who the Colts will have to be aware of on Sunday. He is not without his flaws though. A gameplan centered around heavy play action and a pulling run game could help mitigate Milano’s strengths. The Colts’ are going to have their hands full with the Bills’ number 3 ranked defense in football and Milano is the centerpiece of that defense. It falls on Head Coach Frank Reich and quaterback Andrew Luck to find and exploit the few positive matchups they have in this game. The Colts are making more roster moves, and again it seems like injuries might be the driving factor. They have signed veteran safety Mike Mitchell to the roster and have yet again waived cornerback Lenzy Pipkins.Mitchell is 6’1”, 221lbs, and has played in 137 NFL games. At 31 years old, he will be one of the oldest players on the roster and comes with both significant playing experience, and a reputation among football fans as being a “dirty” player. He will provide a veteran presence in the back of the Colts defense and is somewhat atypical of the kind of player Chris Ballard has generally brought in. Pipkins finds himself looking for work yet again, as the Colts have treated him much like a yo-yo this season. Arriving in Indianapolis via the trade with Green Bay which sent Antonio Morrison to them Authentic T.Y. Hilton Jersey , Pipkins has been back and forth from the practice squad and active roster, getting playing time on Thursday against New England in which he had 9 tackles. It is a safe bet that if he clears waivers, he will find his way back to the Colts’ practice squad. The concerning thing about this move is what it says about the Colts’ safety position. Both Clayton Geathers and Matthias Farley left the game Thursday with injuries, Geathers specifically with a concussion and neck injury. That has been the predominate issue for Geathers with staying healthy and it is certainly no small thing to see that he is dealing with it again. Neck injuries are a big deal, and the style that Geathers plays makes it inevitable that this will be a recurring problem. We have not yet received news that says definitively that this is the reason for this particular move, but with two safeties out and a starter seemingly having re-aggravated a preexisting injury, it seems likely.

It may be preseason, but his competitive juices will be flowing. Both of these teams are looking to bounce back in 2018 after missing the playoffs last year. Chicago’s last postseason appearance was in 2010, and Baltimore’s last playoff game was in 2014. These two teams were selected for this particular game because of their respective legends that will be going into the Hall Of Fame, Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis. I turned 7 in the middle of the 1988 Bears season, which put me right on the cusp of what I call a sports fan’s Conscious Sports Life. The CSL begins once you understand the broader context of the games, teams and players who already have you fanatically obsessed. Before the CSL, you get pumped up and ride the emotional waves, but you don’t understand how a team’s momentum fits into its greater franchise story, or sometimes even how a team fits into the league landscape. You don’t really understand that an old player who just came to your team was a star earlier in his career. You don’t really understand that while you’ve been waiting seven years for a championship, your parents have been waiting 37 years and your grandparents have been waiting 67 years.Back to ‘88. My CSL formation period went from probably 1989 (when I started filling in the blanks on the Cubs history because of our division title, and when the “will they or won’t they?” talk around the Bulls began to build) to 1991 (my first CSL championship and the release of Tecmo Super Bowl) Womens Trey Burton Jersey , with my CSL finalization period running through the end of 1992 (second Bulls championship and my first CSL bad Bears season). In 1988, right on the cusp of that sports fan transformation, I was just beginning to understand the Bears’ history, but mostly that meant hearing my dad talk about the ‘63 championship and remembering Richie Petitbon’s interception.By 1988, the Bears were a sustained powerhouse, albeit with only one championship. We were riding a wave of five straight division crowns. We had the Super Bowl Shuffle and everything around ‘85. We had two other NFC championship games. We entered the playoffs in ‘85, ‘86 and ‘87 ASSUMING we would win a title, and we went into the playoffs in ‘88 with just about the same feeling. Here’s the difference though between a CSL Bears fan in 1988 and a pre-CSL Bears fan in 1988, such as yours truly. A CSL Bears fan in 1988 knew what happened in the pre-Ditka days. They had the scars from Gibron and Dooley. They knew the horrors of 1-13. They appreciated ‘84-’88 more than I ever could because they understood it better than I possibly could. My mindset was just as real as theirs. But it was limited. And that gave me a supernatural confidence about the Bears that was rooted in truth yet bereft of context.Okay then, let’s talk about the Lions. In my mind, the Lions are one of the two saddest franchises in the NFL, along with the Browns. Those are the only two teams that existed prior to the Super Bowl to never play in a Super Bowl. The Browns last won an NFL championship in 1964, but you have to go back even further to see Detroit’s last NFL title. That would be 1957, the franchise’s third title in six years, and all with Bears-castaway and Hall of Famer Bobby Layne at quarterback, no less.Since 1957, Detroit’s best sustained run of success came in the 1990s with Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, Chris Spielman and a host of average QBs. The Lions went to the playoffs six times between 1991 and 1999, peaking with an appearance in the 1991 NFC championship game. The point is, any fan with any context knows the Lions are like a hermit alcoholic: they pose no danger to anyone but themselves. Bears fans over the age of, I dunno Womens Aaron Lynch Jersey , 15 probably don’t sweat the Lions at all.The problem is that young Lions fans don’t have that context, and we are now in danger of a new generation of Lions fans growing up believing that they “own the Bears.”Seriously, check out the smack talk Lions fans lay on Twitter and elsewhere about the Bears. Our WCG colleague Aaron Leming is duly fighting back, looking like Neo when he realizes he can control the Matrix.Yet from the perspective of Lions fans, Leming and others like us don’t look like Neo at the end of the Matrix. To them, we look like Neo jumping off the roof on his first attempt and crashing to the ground. Can you blame them? They are 9-1 against us since 2013. Nine and one. That’s five seasons! That’s the equivalent of seven-year-old Jack getting amped in ‘88 because of everything since ‘84!The trend started bothering me entering the first Lions game of 2016. I wrote a piece here called “We need to talk about the Lions,” and sure enough the Bears went out and knocked off Detroit by three points. I thought it was something to build on. Instead it was a blip in a hideous chart.Seriously, look at this madness:Screenshot from Pro Football Reference. The non-head-to-head picture is rough too. Since our last playoff appearance in 2010, the Lions have the edge over us in wins (60-50), playoff seasons (3-0), winning seasons (4-1) and 10-win seasons (2-1).Oh, and here’s the worst one.Last place finishes, NFC North, since 2011:Bears: 4Vikings: 2Lions: 1Packers: 0That’s right: we are the NFC North’s most frequent cellar-dweller since 2011. And with no NFC North team reaching the Super Bowl in that time, a pre-CSL Lions fan actually thinks he/she roots for a WINNER.It’s enough to make you sick. And that’s why I’m stoked for Sunday. One of the best experiences as a sports fan is seeing a young, hungry, momentum-shifting team come along and start flipping depressing trends like an Othello board. Obviously there are big trends like winning our first Super Bowl since 1985, reaching our first postseason since 2010 and bagging our first winning record since 2012.Then there are the seemingly smaller yet in many ways more personal trends that speak to the larger experience of fandom. One of those trends is getting the Rodgers monkey off our backs. That’s still to come.Another is digging ourselves out of this embarrassing Lions rut.The Lions problem is real. The change starts Sunday. To my fellow CSL Bears fans, your smiles are coming.---Jack M Silverstein is Windy City Gridiron’s Bears historian, and author of “How The GOAT Was Built: 6 Life Lessons From the 1996 Chicago Bulls.” He is the proprietor of Chicago sports history Instagram “A Shot on Ehlo.” Say hey at @readjack.
n on a high note http://www.bearscheapstores.com/nick-kwiatkoski-jersey-cheap , defeating the Detroit Lions 34-22. Though it was far from a perfect win, it was a win, and an important one at that. The Bears improved to 6-3 with a divisional victory and extended their lead in the NFC North. Here are some of my takeaways from Sunday’s action.OffenseMitchell Trubisky is not Blake Bortles.Trubisky had one of the best games of his career this week. He ended up completing 23 of his 30 passing attempts for a career-high 355 passing yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He looked poised in the pocket, comfortable and ready to strike at any moment. His footwork has looked progressively better throughout the season, which has improved his accuracy as a result. His pocket presence has also improved, as he is nuch less jittery under pressure than he was in the beginning of the year. Eight of his passes resulted in gains of 20 yards or more, which speaks to his accuracy, Matt Nagy’s confidence in his quarterback, and Chicago’s receivers’ ability to create separation. Trubisky hasn’t been perfect this season, and the fact that Patrick Mahomes, who was drafted after him in 2017, has been having an MVP-caliber season automatically makes him look like a bad pick in the eyes of those who don’t actually pay attention to the team. Despite what some particular pundits may say online, Trubisky is a good quarterback who has proven that he can lead the Bears to the playoffs, as opposed to one who has to rely on his defense to carry him there.Running the ball, the Bears were pretty ineffective. Jordan Howard picked up a nine-yard gain on the very first offensive play of the game but failed to pick up a gain that went for longer than that. Tarik Cohen had a lackluster game, as well, only gaining 15 yards on seven carries. He also caught six passes, but he only ended up with a total of 29 yards. A new-look Detroit run defense led by stud defensive tackle Damon Harrison Sr. did a number on Chicago’s ground game, but their secondary failed to slow down an electric Bears passing attack.Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller both put together their best performances of the season on Sunday. A-Rob was the dominant presence that the Bears signed him to be, catching six passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns in his return from injury. He made a phenomenal touchdown grab on a contested ball in the end zone on a 45-yard bomb, putting his size and physicality to good use. Miller has the best game of his career with five receptions, 122 yards and a touchdown. He showed off the ability to separate from cornerbacks and pick up yards after the catch that had him so highly touted coming out of Memphis. Trey Burton also caught four passes for 40 yards, and he caught a two-point conversion pass from Trubisky in the third quarter. It’s encouraging to see so many weapons in Chicago’s offense doing well this year, and the presumptive return of Adam Shaheen from injury next week should open up even more opportunities for them to get open looks.Although the Bears’ run blocking was less than ideal, they did a good job of giving Trubisky a fairly clean pocket. He was only sacked once, and he was given several chances to deliver darts under very little pressure. Though unlikely they play that well every week in their stretch of divisional games http://www.bearscheapstores.com/bobby-massie-jersey-cheap , it was a good sign to see them successful against an underrated Detroit pass rush.DefenseThe Bears took their feet off the gas pedal in the fourth quarter, as they allowed 12 points in the span of one minute and nine seconds. Granted, a recovered onside kick gave the Lions very good field position on their second touchdown drive of the quarter, but Chicago’s defense was not fantastic late. Still, their performance in the first three quarters was nothing short of great.Khalil Mack made his triumphant return from injury on Sunday, and he came back in a way that only he could: by dominating. Despite missing the previous two weeks, he finished the game with five tackles and two sacks. His impact was definitely evident throughout the game, as he opened up opportunities for several teammates. Leonard Floyd continued his hot streak by snagging that ever-so-elusive first sack of the season. Bilal Nichols, who was limited with a knee injury, also picked up a sack and a forced fumble.Roquan Smith had another good game, picking up 10 total tackles, a sack and a pass deflection. His speed and ranginess really helps the Bears get bailed out on some plays that may otherwise blow past the second level. Danny Trevathan picked up five tackles of his own.Kyle Fuller didn’t have any pass deflections or interceptions this week, but he did a good job in coverage for the most part. Save an allowed touchdown catch by Kenny Golladay, Fuller had a solid game. Prince Amukamara wasn’t necessarily perfect, but he lit up the stat sheet with eight tackles, two pass deflections, one interception and two forced fumbles. Bryce Callahan had yet another fantastic game, tallying five tackles, two pass deflections, an interception and a sack on a nickel blitz. He should be Chicago’s top priority to bring back this offseason, as he has been one of, if not the best nickelback in the league. Both Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos had their fair share of mistakes, but neither of them were particularly terrible. Jackson in particular showed some tenacity as a tackler and added on a pass deflection. While not an elite safety duo, they have more than serviceable for most of the year and complement each other well.Three and out3. Cody Parkey...yikes. The kicker, who was signed to a four-year, $15 million deal this past offseason, missed both of his field goal attempts and missed two of his four extra point attempts. Every single one of them hit the goalpost. Between this Cheap Eddie Jackson Jersey , Pat O’Donnell’s struggles and an inability to both defend and return kickoffs, Chicago’s special teams might just be one of their biggest weaknesses at the moment. Poor performance on the third phase could potentially cost the Bears down the line if they don’t get something figured out.2. Many have compared Trubisky to Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes, the two other quarterbacks selected in the first round of the 2017 draft. Because of the latter two quarterbacks’ success on a national stage, many have forgotten about Trubisky and have considered him to be a bust. Let’s break down how each signal-caller has done so far this year.Trubisky: 9 games, 2,304 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 65.5 completion percentage, 6-3 team recordMahomes: 10 games, 3,150 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 67.0 completion percentage, 9-1 team recordWatson: 9 games, 2,389 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 64.9 completion percentage, 6-3 team recordMahomes has easily been the best quarterback of the three, even if you take out the extra game he has played. However, Trubisky’s performance has been on par with, if not better than that of Watson, who has been praised much more often by the national media. While one can argue that Mahomes is the best quarterback of the class - which is definitely warranted with the way he has played this year - all three of them are playing at a high level and are helping their teams win. 1. The Bears take on the Vikings next week in a Sunday night matchup, and it is one that promises to be a fun one to watch. Chicago currently sits as the two-point favorites Cheap Anthony Miller Jersey , but Minnesota could realistically come away with the win. The Vikings are 4-1 in their last five matchups, and their lone loss came against the red-hot New Orleans Saints. Their defense is playing better than the one that gave up 27 points to the Buffalo Bills, and their offense seems to be clicking quite nicely. The Bears are themselves in the midst of a hot streak, having won their last three games. Next week will surely be an entertaining battle for NFC North supremacy.Fantasy Football Forum - Week 1 Each week, we’re setting aside this space for all things fantasy football related. You have a tough start/sit decision? Bring it here. You want to brag about a longshot that paid off? Head to the comments. Did you suffer a bad beat because a kicker made 7 field goals against you? Post your sob story. Advice is free and of course remember the rule - you get what you pay for.The fourth of my four fantasy football leagues is a live auction draft during the first game of the season. It’s a great wrap to the fantasy draft season and a solid way to kick off the football season. I was vaguely aware of a sloppy football game going on around me as I waded through an ever-shifting market of slot receivers and goal line backs. As the dust settles on my draft season, I see a few names on multiple teams - surely a sign that these are the guys who will make or break my fantasy year.Michael Thomas shows up on three of my squads. I’ve made no secret of my love of Thomas and a slightly different draft position in the WCG league would have made it a perfect 4 for 4. He’s a threat to finish as the #1 WR. His teammate, Alvin Kamara, shows up on two of my squads as a keeper. He is central to my early advantage in both of those leagues. Derrick Henry, Dion Lewis, and Marcus Mariota show up on two squads each. I mentioned on Lester’s podcast, T-Formation Conversation, that I was in on the Titans for a rebound year. Mariota is just a backup in those two leagues but I’ll be counting on production from Henry and Lewis. I nabbed Corey Davis in just one league, but I think that’s a sneaky good selection.I have former Bear Greg Olsen on two squads - he was a disaster last year coming back from injury so this is a bit of a hope that he’ll return to his former productive self. Keenan Allen will be featured on two squads and it’s a bit of a shock it isn’t all four. He’s consistently one of my top targets, but there’s no more discount at the draft table. I made plays for Julian Edelman in two leagues as well, thinking he’ll pay off when the calendar turns to October. Finally, Deshaun Watson will lead two of my squads into the year as the QB. While I preached waiting on QBs all off-season, I ended up with the following starters/backups: Watson/Mariota, Brees/Mariota, Wilson (no backup), and Watson/Ryan/Dalton in a two QB league. So, for all my talk, I abandoned it when some value presented itself. I suppose I’m all in on Watson, as I predicted him to take the league MVP award in our staff predictions. He was dynamite for me last year and sometimes I can’t shake good feelings from the past. Time will tell. On the flip side of it, I’m surprised I have no shares of Jay Ajayi after my aggressive rankings in the preseason (and he showed up with 2 scores last night). I had a goal of getting one share of each of the top Bears targets and succeeded with he exception of Jordan Howard. What about you? Who is the key to your fantasy football season? Did you miss out on anyone you really wanted a piece of or did you execute the perfect draft? For emergency fantasy football decisions, hit me up @gridironborn
reaking loss to the Miami Dolphins. Luckily for most fans www.authenticschicagobears.com , Week 7’s match up against the New England Patriots is right around the corner, even with the fear of dropping to 3-3 and out of first place with a loss on Sunday.Despite that reality, there’s plenty of excitement and intrigue surrounding this Bears team, which should led to at least playoff conversations in December for the first time since 2013. In order to get there, they must continue to win games. With a crucial Week 7 game ahead on Sunday, let’s dive into this week’s mailbag to see if we can’t solve some of the world’s problems on our own.Usayd Koshul (@usaydkoshul)— Going into the season, what were your expectations for Mitchell Trubisky and after five games, has he met or exceeded your expectations? There were plenty of Trubisky questions this week but I felt like this question touched the most bases. For me, Trubisky is about right on par with where I figured he would be. Obviously numbers for quarterbacks inflate dramatically over the first two months of the season before the weather drops off and it truly becomes football season. So far, I’d say it’s been a mixed bag for Trubisky but the key is how many steps forward he’s taken the last two weeks. There was a lot of talk about the complexity of the offense and how that was affecting the second-year quarterback and I think to an extent that was justified. Fans have to understand that the entire offense was struggling over the first few games of the season with head coach Matt Nagy’s offense. Receivers weren’t getting lined up correctly, they were ending up in the same place as other pass catchers at the end of their routes, and the offensive line had multiple breakdowns early on.Nagy peeled back a little bit against Tampa Bay and I think it helped tremendously. Watching Trubisky over the past two games, his boost in confidence is noticeable. His comfort and pocket presence is also very noticeable and equally as important, players are finding their roles in an offense that is less than six months old.Overall, I’d say Trubisky is right on track of where I expected him to be, even if the exact route he’s taken wasn’t how I expected. The key is to keep taking steps forward from here and I see that progression continuing. Sheldon Absher (@_SheldonAbsher_)— If you had to guess right now, what do you think the NFC North standings will look like at the end of the season?During the Bears bye week, I tweeted that I thought the Bears were the best team in the NFC North. If you’ve followed the Bears or the fan base long enough, you’d know that many fans suffer from PTSD due to this disastrous stretch over the past five or so seasons.Even so Chicago Bears T-Shirt , I have to admit I was a little surprised at the amount of push back I received over that statement. A week (and a loss) later, I still believe the Bears are the best team in the NFC North. The Bears had the hottest start of all three teams and like most NFL fans, the present takes up most of their memory. So right now, the Bears are being looked at as the “struggling” team because they are the only team in the North to lose in the past two weeks. The reality is this:The Packers have a bye week then face the Rams and Patriots on the road, followed the Dolphins, Seahawks and Vikings. That’s five teams currently sitting at .500 or better. The Vikings face a slightly more mild schedule and and the Lions are in a similar position. After the Bears complete their four game stretch with the AFC East, they face the NFC North in five out of their last eight games but three of those five are at home. They also currently hold a half-game “advantage” over both the Packers and Vikings due to their tie. Ultimately, I believe the Bears control their own destiny moving forward. Just get to 5-3 and go from there.Elliot Brandt (@Elltrain720)— What kind of adjustments need to be made to counteract the two second shotgun throws to the slot that we cannot seem to defend?Good question. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that Vic Fangio consistently plays his boundary corners well off the line of scrimmage. Outside of last week’s game, I think the Bears defense has done a nice job of covering screens and most of the short attacks from opposing teams. In some ways I believe Fangio tried counteracting some of the Dolphins’ attack by dropping both Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd into coverage. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of that. I know it’s becoming old to hear but I truly believe the heat played a large role in Albert Wilson’s final two touchdown catches and their 15 missed tackles in the second half.Brian Beck (@beckbrian7)— What is your take on Leonard Floyd so far?Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY SportsFrom a pass rushing standpoint, Floyd’s numbers have been disappointing. I truly thought that with the addition of Mack, he and Akiem Hicks would reap the most rewards from it. So far, I’ve been wrong. A few factors to consider, though.Floyd’s hand injury did him absolutely no favors. Doesn’t excuse zero sacks through five games but was a bigger setback than most had originally expected. He’s learning a brand new side. He’s never had a ton of pass rushing tools. It was actually one of the main reasons I wasn’t a fan of him at Georgia. He’s long and athletic but he’s always been raw. Now you tell him he’ll take 80% of his snaps from a new side and now he’s having to break habits and re-work them. All in all, Floyd’s production needs to come at some point but it’s somewhat understandable as to why he hasn’t been a big factor as a pass rusher. On the plus side, he’s been excellent against the run and much better in coverage. Jack Devaney (@Eyes_On_It_All)— What do you think Nagy’s reasoning was on that 3rd and 4 run call in OT?I think he simply went too conservative. I know that’s not a very complex answer but that “Be You” reminder that he has on his play call sheet during each game, must have fallen off because that three play sequence was a complete contradiction to what he’s preached all offseason. He claimed he didn’t want to take a sack in that situation but I’m not sure a punt in that situation is any worse than missing a 53-yard field goal and allowing Miami the field position to win the game. A tie would have been better in that situation than an outright loss, in my opinion. Now we get to see if he learned from it. My guess is, we’ll see a more aggressive approach whether he verbalizes it or not.Tommy Missel (@TommyMissel)— When is Shaheen coming back?Aaron Doster-USA TODAY SportsEarly guess based on what has been reported and what Nagy has said is that Shaheen will be back around Week 11. I know that doesn’t sound exactly ideal but judging by reports of his side work last Sunday before the game Chicago Bears Hats , he’s still not very close to being ready to take the field.Nagy continues to confidently say Shaheen will be back this season, so I’ll believe him but I do think that his return will likely be closer to the back end of the required timeline.MJ Ogle (@ogle_mj)— Why is Jordan Howard not getting big runs?On the season, Howard is averaging just 3.5 yards-per-carry, which is a career low for him. His snap count has also gone down from 72% to 51% over the last four games but I don’t think that’s really by design.Looking at the Bears two biggest most impactful skill players (Tarik Cohen and Taylor Gabriel) they both have one thing in common- Speed. I don’t think it’s exactly a coincidence that since those two have gotten going the past two games, the offense has racked up over 900 yards and scored 76 points. As far as Howard goes, his vision hasn’t been great from my perspective. I’ve seen him miss multiple holes running inside. He has his moments where he looks like old Howard but I’m not sure Nagy is using him the right way, either. His runs have been much more obvious but then again, that’s what happens when you’re not as dynamic of a player as someone like Cohen.Howard’s value likely comes when the weather cools down. Some of his biggest performances the past two season has been when the weather is at it’s worst. Become the first Bears quarterback to ever throw for five touchdowns in one half and the first to throw six touchdowns in a game since 1949, and it’s only natural you’ll open up some eyes. That’s the case for Mitchell Trubisky after he tore apart the Buccaneers defense this past Sunday. Play well, be recognized for it. Rinse, repeat. Thanks to Trubisky’s lights-out performance where he threw for six scores and 354 yards against Tampa Bay, he has officially been nominated for the NFL’s FedEx Air Player of the Week for Week 4. Trubisky’s career breakout game is up against the Rams’ Jared Goff ripping through the Vikings for 465 yards and five passing touchdowns, and the Colts’ Andrew Luck’s 464 yards and four touchdowns against the Texans. You can vote for Trubisky as the FedEx Air Player of the Week below. Play well, be recognized for it. Even a small recognition would likely be a great gift for Trubisky during the Bears’ bye week. FL’s Game Statistic and Information System Authentic Jordan Howard Jersey , as are the accompanying pictures. The Chicago Bears win against the New York Jets, coupled with from losses of the other three teams in the NFC North, has the Bears back atop the division. It wasn’t a pretty win, but the NFL isn’t judged on style points. The Bears did enough in all three phases to pull out the important victory in a game they were expected to win. Beating teams you’re supposed to beat is a trait of good teams, and the Bears have another one coming up in a week against the Buffalo Bills. The Bears started slow, they only led 7-3 at the half, but they pulled away and ended up dominating the overall numbers.Chicago had the edge in total yards (395 to 207), yards per offensive play (6.1 to 3.8), first downs (22 to 12), and time of possession (32:44 to 27:16). The Bears were also only penalized twice for 25 yards, to 8 for 45 from the Jets.Let’s take a closer look at the playing time break downs for the Bears, and also some individual stats.OffenseIt wasn’t the crispest of games for Mitchell Trubisky, but he ended up 16 of 29 for 220 yards, with 2 touchdowns and a passer rating of 102.7. The second quarter was where he struggled the most http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/kyle-fuller-jersey , going 2 for 9, but he bounced back after the half to go 11 for 16. He also continued to do damage with his feet running for 51 yards on 6 carries. The game’s leading rusher was Jordan Howard, who went for 81 yards on 22 carries, with a TD. Tarik Cohen added 40 yards on 5 carries, plus a huge 70 yard TD reception on his only catch of the afternoon. The other TD catch went to rookie Anthony Miller who caught 3 of the 7 balls thrown his way for 37 yards. He also had 1 run for 7 yards. Taylor Gabriel and Josh Bellamy led the Bears with 4 receptions apiece, with Gabriel getting 52 yards and Bellamy getting 37. Kevin White caught 1 for 6 yards, and Trey Burton had 3 receptions for 18 yards. DefenseThe Bears’ pass rush wasn’t as bad as the stats would seem, as they did get Jets’ QB Sam Darnold off his spot a little bit, but they only had 1 sack and 2 QB hits. They do need Khalil Mack back, and healthy, if they have any chance to stay in first place this year. The Bears held Darnold to a 75.8 passer rating. Nickleback Bryce Callahan had the lone sack, and he also had 4 tackles, 3 passes defended, and a tackle for loss. Also Womens Eric Kush Jersey , check out how much time the Bears spent in nickle (98%), and the Jets still couldn’t run against them. New York running backs only managed 35 yards on 19 carries (1.8 ypc). The Bears starting secondary only had 6 tackles between them (that’s a good thing). Safety Eddie Jackson had a costly unnecessary roughness penalty however.OLBs Leonard Floyd had 2 tackles, Aaron Lynch had 1, and Isaiah Irving had 2. Floyd has been the talk of some trade rumors, but I doubt he goes anywhere. While he’s still looking for his first sack, he’s played well against the run, and the Bears don’t have the depth behind him to move him.Inside linebackers Danny Trevathan and Roquan Smith were 1-2 in tackles yesterday with 7 and 5 respectively. Trevathan added a pass defense, and Smith had a TFL. Roy Robertson-Harris had 4 tackles (and a TFL), and Eddie Goldman also had 4 tackles. The other QB hit went to Akiem Hicks, who also had 3 tackles. Bilal Nichols played the third most snaps among the d-linemen and he ended up with 3 tackles. Special TeamsThe players listed above only appeared in the third phase.Ben Braunecker had the Bears only special teams tackle, and he was also evaluated for a concussion during the game. Cody Parkey missed a 40 yard field goal, but he hit one from 32, made all 3 extra points, and went 5 for 5 on touchbacks. Patrick O’Donnell had a 45 yard average on 5 punts and he placed 2 inside the 20. The Bears have only allowed 51 punt return yards this season http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/danny-trevathan-jersey , which is 5th least in the league. No suspension for Akiem Hicks after pushing an official in the Bears’ win over the Buccaneers After pushing an official near the end of the first half of the Bears’ 48-10 win over the Buccaneers this past Sunday, Akiem Hicks will not be suspended by the NFL for the incident, reports WGN’s Adam Hoge. Hicks had been involved in some heated engagements with Buccaneers players and it ended with down judge Mike Carr unfortunately getting shoved in the moment. Luckily, for Hicks’ sake, the incidental contact wasn’t deemed to be malicious. A prior clean history likely also helped Hicks’ case to avoid a suspension in the inconsistent crucible of the NFL’s discipline policy. Though he avoids a suspension, Hicks is still very likely to be fined, which should be announced by the end of this week. Touching officials in any kind of aggressive manner is an obvious no-no. Hicks, 27, is in his third season with the Bears. The star 3-4 defensive end has three sacks in four games and leads all interior defensive linemen in quarterback pressures. When the Bears return from their bye week, he has a matchup with a banged-up Dolphins interior offensive line waiting for him. A welcome matchup he can take advantage of with full availability. Titans The Buffalo Bills won the game http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/jordan-poyer-jersey , beating the Tennessee Titans 13-12 on a last-second field goal. So what are the takeaways from the Week 5 game, as the Bills move to 2-3? Interesting question.Thank God the running backs were involvedIt wasn’t just the last drive, where the Bills running backs accounted for 30 yards and a lot of clock. LeSean McCoy had 24 carries for 85 yards. Chris Ivory had 14 runs for 43 yards. It was clear offensive coordinator Brian Daboll wanted to get McCoy involved and it paid off. Imagine that.Josh Allen was not goodAll week, you’re going to hear a battle between “the Bills won” and “the offense stunk”. Both are true. Just 79 passing yards from Buffalo was enough to get it done. The interception wasn’t the rookie’s fault, but he threw a lot of uncatchable passes on Sunday. Andre Holmes had a pass go through his hands and get picked off, but it’s difficult to evaluate receivers when Allen is so inaccurate.Special teams almost cost themThe Bills put the game on the foot of Stephen Hauschka at the end, but it might not have come down to that if they hadn’t been terrible on special teams. Danny Crossman’s unit allowed a long punt return to set up points for the Titans and kept points off their own scoreboard when holder Corey Bojorquez maybe thought it was a fake (?) and didn’t get it down for a field goal attempt in the first half. Defense is legitThe 2017 defense is back! Turnovers on turnovers as the opportunistic Bills got the ball three times and forced another fumble that was batted out of bounds. Without it, Buffalo’s offense would not have been able to move the ball enough to win the game. Marcus Mariota was pressured and the Bills made some well-timed plays to get the ball. Only 129 yards passing on the day is pretty darn good.Offensive line came to playThe offensive line stepped up in Week 5 Womens Ryan Groy Jersey , keeping the Titans pass rush at bay and opening holes for the running game. When the yards counted at the end of the game, the offensive line was able to open the holes. Even the flags against the o-line were a little suspect.Report: Veteran QB Derek Anderson “expects to sign” with Buffalo Bills The Buffalo Bills have been working out veteran quarterbacks amid rookie Josh Allen’s up-and-down first season, and it appears the team will be signing a longtime veteran in Derek Anderson. That’s per a report by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, who says that Anderson “expects to sign” with the Bills sometime in the next 24 hours. The Bills worked out Paxton Lynch, who technically counts as a veteran despite barely more playing time than Allen in his three year career, earlier this season, and reports surfaced on Sunday morning that the Bills had worked out Landry Jones (formerly of the Steelers).Anderson, who is now in the thirteenth year of his career Womens Vladimir Ducasse Jersey , spent the past seven years with the Panthers as a backup and mentor during Cam Newton’s entire career. The Buffalo front office is intimately familiar with the Panthers, as we all know, and when Anderson became a free agent in the spring it was commonly speculated that he would end up with the Bills. Also noteworthy in Mortensen’s report is that Anderson’s role could include playing time. Seeing Allen scuffle against the Green Bay Packers, several fans and analysts expressed concern that the current trajectory by the Bills would ingrain bad habits that showed up in college. Anderson taking Allen off the field could ease some of the strain from a quarterback whose mind is moving a million miles per hour. On the other hand, it’s never good to see a team’s first round pick benched in favor of a street free agent.

he Baltimore Ravens pounded the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Cheap Shaq Lawson Jersey , winning a 47-3 embarrassment of a football game. The stars for the Ravens were mostly familiar names, with their veterans on offense supplying plenty of firepower, and their defense returning to its shutdown reputation. Here is a look back at our five Ravens to watch for the week. We thought they would be the key to the game.QB Joe FlaccoThe University of Delaware product sure looked elite on Sunday, completing 25-of-34 passes (74%) for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns on the afternoon, which ended during the third quarter for him due to the laughingstock the game had become. Flacco had more completed pass than Bills’ starting quarterback Nathan Peterman had yards passing (24). He picked Buffalo’s secondary to shreds, exploiting rookies Tremaine Edmunds and Taron Johnson in the middle of the field, and then veteran Phillip Gaines by the sidelines and in the end zone. Overall, it was a clinic by the continuously underrated veteran.CB Marlon HumphreyThe second-year man drew the assignment of covering Buffalo’s number one receiver, Kelvin Benjamin, and he did not disappoint. Benjamin caught only 1 of 7 targets for a total of 10 yards. Humphrey broke up a pass intended for Benjamin in the first half that the big wideout had both hands on, but the young corner was able to sneak his left arm in between Benjamin and the ball to rip it out. If Humphrey continues to play like he did on Sunday Bills Vladimir Ducasse Jersey , Baltimore’s secondary will be downright scary when veteran Jimmy Smith returns from suspension in October.EDGE Terrell SuggsThe veteran pass rusher did his thing on Sunday, pressuring Nathan Peterman and Josh Allen all throughout the day. Suggs had two tackles for loss and a sack on the day. He moved around Baltimore’s defensive front, beating left tackle Dion Dawkins and right tackle Jordan Mills. The 35-year old still has plenty left in the tank.WR John BrownWe really just could have said “whichever receiver lines up opposite Phillip Gaines,” because the Ravens absolutely abused the Bills’ corner not named Tre’Davious White. Brown and Michael Crabtree each caught touchdown passes when covered by Gaines, and Brown also snagged a pass that Flacco threw from across the field when Gaines bit so badly on a double-move that the Bills’ corner was running fifteen yards away from his man while the ball was in the air. Brown totaled 3 catches on 4 targets, 44 yards, and the aforementioned touchdown on the day. C Matt SkuraIf there was one bright spot on the day for Buffalo, it was that they were able to contain Baltimore running back Alex Collins, holding him to 13 yards on 7 carries. Overall, Baltimore ran 34 times for 117 yards, and they were unable to open holes consistently in the middle of the line. The Ravens did manage to score three touchdowns on short-yardage carries up the gut Authentic Stephen Hauschka Jersey , however. Skura performed well for the Ravens in his first game as the team’s starting center, keeping Flacco upright and directing traffic up front for the duration of the afternoon. The Buffalo Bills offense sputtered once again on Monday Night Football, as the New England Patriots won 25-6 at New Era Field. The Buffalo Bills sit at 2-3 after five weeks and the most difficult portion of their schedule. With a rookie quarterback taking his lumps Youth LeSean McCoy Jersey , Buffalo isn’t completely out of it in a crowded AFC playoff field. The Kansas City Chiefs are the lone undefeated team in the conference and the Cincinnati Bengals are 4-1. Most of the rest of the AFC is mired in a huge logjam somewhere between 2-3 and 3-2. Then the Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts are bringing up the rear.Buffalo’s next two games are against teams behind or tied with them in the standings. They can really get a running start into their Monday night showdown against the New England Patriots looming at the end of October. Here is the complete AFC playoff picture:1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)2. Cincinnati Bengals (4-1)3. New England Patriots (3-2, win over MIA)4. Tennessee Titans (3-2, win over JAX)5t. Los Angeles Chargers (3-2)5t. Baltimore Ravens (3-2)5t. Miami Dolphins (3-2)5t. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2)9t. Cleveland Browns (2-2-1)9t. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2-1)11t. Buffalo Bills (2-3)11t. Houston Texans (2-3)11t. New York Jets (2-3)11t. Denver Broncos (2-3)15t. Oakland Raiders (1-4)15t. Indianapolis Colts (1-4) In a slight show of gamesmanship, the Buffalo Bills listed all three of their most severely injured players as questionable on Friday ahead of the weekend’s showdown with the Tennessee Titans. Micah Hyde, Rafael Bush Youth Dion Dawkins Jersey , and Charles Clay all technically have a chance to play on Sunday. To be realistic, though, it wouldn’t be a shock to see both Hyde and Bush out of the picture this weekend. Following his original injury diagnosis, Hyde (groin) was labelled “week-to-week” by head coach Sean McDermott, and he didn’t practice at all this week. Bush (shoulder) also failed to practice from Wednesday through Friday Youth Tre'Davious White Jersey , and though he’d be needed with Hyde out, his availability may stretch out one more week.Charles Clay (ankle) followed a similar trajectory to last week, just with a different injury. After missing practice on Thursday, he was a full participant on Friday, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him on the field against the Titans.Shaq Lawson and Marcus Murphy were both listed sans injury designation this week White Charles Clay Jersey , which means if either one is held out of the game on Sunday, it wouldn’t be due to health. The Titans will be without starting safety Kenny Vaccaro or linebacker Wesley Woodyard, but most of their roster is fully intact.
ns to practice http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/charles-clay-jersey , Trent Murphy has minor ankle injury Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson will return to practice this week, after a hamstring injury had him sidelined for the past two weeks. Speaking at his usual Monday press conference Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott noted that the edge rusher had progressed in his recovery. LeSean McCoy (rib cartilage) is day-to-day in working his way back to the field after missing Sunday’s game. There was no word on cornerback Phillip Gaines (elbow), who was a limited participant in practice at the end of last week but wasn’t able to play in Sunday’s game.Regarding injuries from Sunday’s game, the only injury McDermott called out was Trent Murphy, who rolled his ankle and will be day-to-day practicing this week. Center Russell Bodine and cornerback Ryan Lewis, who both left the field for a handful of snaps during the game, didn’t net a mention from McDermott in the injury roundup, which would suggest they should be in good shape for the next game against the Green Bay Packers.AFC East Roundup: Week 1 review of the good and the bad The first week of the NFL season is in the books after months of waiting. After one week of play, three teams in the AFC East division picked up a win, while the other one...well...was blown out to say the least. This week on the AFC East Roundup, we will be looking at stock up and stock down for the teams as they head into Week two.Buffalo BillsStock Up: Next year’s free agentsWhen you lose 47-3, it is hard to find an area or player that did well in the game. That is why the stock is up for free agents that the team is targeting heading into next season. When you lose this badly Womens Star Lotulelei Jersey , the holes on the team are clear, and they need to be filled. Free agents will know this heading into the off season, and they will know that the Bills are going to pay a premium in order to improve the team.Stock Down: Fan MoraleIt is easy to just put the entire team as stock down, but in this instance, we will look at the fans. After breaking the infamous playoff drought last season, fans were hopeful going into this year, but in the back of their minds, they knew that the team, on paper, did not look very good. Unfortunately, their worst case scenario became a reality on Sunday, and now fans are already looking towards the future of free agency next season and the potential number one pick in the draft.New England PatriotsStock Up: Rob GronkowskiAfter a turbulent offseason Womens Shaq Lawson Jersey , Gronk was back on the field for the Patriots. He was able to put all the talk of retirement and a potential trade behind him, going off for 123 yards and a touchdown. Gronkowski is back, which is bad news for all the teams in the NFL, and he does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. With Julian Edeleman still slated to miss three more games, expect Gronk to continue this production. Stock Down: Cordarrelle PattersonDuring the offseason, we mentioned that Patterson could be a fantasy sleeper this year due to his speed and deep ball potential. On Sunday, he was a non-factor on the field. In the passing game, he only caught one ball for six yards, and he added two rushes for 13 yards. Against the Houston Texans, he did not put in his best performance, but perhaps he can bounce back in Week two. Miami DolphinsStock Up: Team CultureGoing into the season, head coach Adam Gase wanted to implement a new culture with the team. After letting go of star players and waiting for the return of Ryan Tannehill from injury Womens Corey Bojorquez Jersey , the team was looking to move forward with a new culture as a team. They did not disappoint on Sunday with a hard-fought victory against the Tennessee Titans. After a down season last year, this team can be dangerous if everyone buys in. Stock Down: Danny AmendolaOne of the prize free agents for the team in the off season was Amendola, acquired after spending last season with the Patriots. Sunday, he did not make as big as an impact as he could have hoped. Amendola only caught four balls for under 30 yards as he is looking to become more comfortable in the offense. Fortunately, he did not need to step up that much, as the other receivers did most of the work on offense, but we would still like him to increase those numbers.New York JetsStock Up: Sam DarnoldIf you just tuned in for the first pass of his NFL career, then Darnold would be stock down after throwing an interception that was returned for a Detroit Lions touchdown. However, Darnold showed great mental toughness and continued to play an excellent game after that, passing for 198 yards and two touchdowns. It was an efficient game that made Jets fans excited for the season to come, especially if that defense, which was also worthy of stock up Authentic Josh Allen Jersey , keeps playing the way it did against the Lions.Stock Down: Lac EdwardsWe are giving the punter some love, but for the wrong reasons. Edwards punted the ball three times on Monday night, but only averaged 37 yards a punt, with his long being 40 yards. Granted, field position did not matter as much with the score being what it was, but in tight games throughout the season, he needs to be better.
ttery ticket: 12-80-10.The Chicago Bears coach is hoping the offense can strike it rich this season with the additions of receiver Allen Robinson (No. 12) and tight end Trey Burton (No. 8) Youth Taylor Gabriel Jersey , to pair with young quarterback Mitchell Trubisky (No. 10).Throughout camp, the trio has steadily honed their chemistry. That was evident Thursday when the team had a joint practice against the Denver Broncos."The one thing I've really seen is 12 and 80, both their timing is starting to click with 10 ," said Nagy, whose team faces the Broncos on Saturday in a preseason contest.Robinson is rounding back into form after tearing his ACL in the opener last season while with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He signed a three-year, $42 million free agent deal with the Bears to become Trubisky's top target. Then there's Burton, a member of the Philadelphia Eagles last season who may be best remembered for throwing a 1-yard TD pass to quarterback Nick Foles during a Super Bowl win over New England.Burton rattled off numerous reasons why he signed with Chicago — the offense, the coach, the city and of course No. 10."A young quarterback who everybody says nothing but great things about," Burton said. The second-overall pick in 2017, Trubisky threw for 2,193 yards, seven TDs and seven interceptions his rookie season. With Nagy running the show, the Bears figure to take more shots down the field. That's extremely enticing to Trubisky, whose team ranked at the bottom of the league in yards passing per game in 2017."We're going to keep being aggressive," Trubisky said. "The key is to be consistent with them, hit them. It really stretches the field, and it opens up the run game, opens up the intermediate throws as well. We're going to continue to be aggressive, which I love."Asked what he does best on the field, Trubisky didn't blink: "That's too generic."He quickly pondered."What do I think I do best? I don't know. I love football," he responded. "I love coming out here with my teammates and doing the best I possibly can. I wouldn't say there's really one (way) how I would categorize my game. I want to continue to get better every day and try to be great."Maybe a little surprising is how fast Trubisky has gotten in sync with Robinson and Burton."It speaks to the type of guys they are, their knowledge of the game and their work ethic, as well as mine," Trubisky said. "We've been getting on the same page, repping over and over again and really developing that trust and chemistry on and off the field so I know where they're going to be. They do a good job getting open. We've really been clicking."Robinson is slated to see some action for the Bears on Saturday. Trubisky and the first-team offense gained minus-1 yards on eight plays last week at Cincinnati.Obviously, Nagy wants to see more."You want to score touchdowns. You want to be able to put points on the board," Nagy said. "I want to see some first downs. I want to see a balance of run and pass. I want to see solid protection. If you have protection and give that quarterback green grass, they'll produce."Nagy liked what he saw out of Trubisky after two days of facing a Broncos defense featuring the disruptive Von Miller."Arrow up," Nagy said. "It was two good days and that's what his expectations are and that's what he knows we want."He does at that."Every snap matters. Every practice rep, every preseason game matters," Trubisky said. "We're coming out here competing every day. We're always trying to get better. No matter what it is, if it's on the practice field http://www.bearscheapstores.com/kyle-long-jersey-cheap , if I'm in the backyard by myself or if it's a preseason game, we're trying to get better and we're trying to move the football."That's what great players do. That's what great teams do. We're trying to get some momentum."Five Questions with Field Gulls: Khalil Mack is going to dominate After recovering from tough losses, the Bears and Seahawks will try to earn the first win of their respective seasons in a Monday Night Football showdown. To get the lowdown on this squad, I reached out to Kenneth Arthur, Editor of SB Nation’s Field Gulls for five questions. Windy City Gridiron: 1. Doug Baldwin suffered an injury in Sunday’s loss to the Broncos. What’s his status and assuming he’s not able to go Monday night, what does that do to the rest of the receiver group?Field Gulls: Baldwin missed all of preseason with an injury to his left knee and then suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers suffered a sprained MCL on Sunday night and returned to the game to beat the Bears. Not that all sprained MCLs are the same, but pointing out that certain sprained MCLs don’t even cost you a game. Dont’a Hightower sprained his MCL last Week 1 and missed two games. Kevin Johnson suffered a sprained MCL in Week 2 and missed a few games. At the time I’m answering this question, all I can say is “I don’t know.” Maybe we’ll know more closer to game time, but I’d expect the team to maybe rest him. That puts more targets on Brandon Marshall, who played well in his Seahawks debut and looks closer to his usual self than he did last year with the Giants. Jaron Brown, Tyler Lockett, and David Moore make out the rest of the group, and I have more confidence in the depth there than I have in years. If Baldwin had to miss an extended period of time, they might call up Keenan Reynolds from the practice squad, a guy who has drawn many Baldwin comps.WCG: 2. In recent years, the Seahawks offensive line has been one of the worst groups in the league, which has limited the run game and forced Russell Wilson to do Russell Wilson things. Has that unit improved and if so, how does that shape what the Seahawks can do this season?FG: Well, I would say it was mostly the pass blocking that was an issue up until last year. Then it was certainly run blocking too, but Chris Carson was successful behind the same o-line as Eddie Lacy and Thomas Rawls. Those running backs deserve plenty of blame for the awful results on the ground. But yes, the unit has improved. One, they started last year with Rees Odhiambo at left tackle and ended it with Duane Brown. They have a legitimate left tackle. Justin Britt is a solid starting center. The rest of the unit is still question marks and they were forced to start J.R. Sweezy at right guard after planning all summer to put D.J. Fluker there, but he hurt his hamstring during the third preseason game. Continuity be damned. Two, Germain Ifedi will contain Khalil Mack. Call me a homer, whatever, I don’t care. Ifedi will have no issues with Mack or anyone else the Bears throw at him. Just kidding, Ifedi is going to have his entire family history erased by Mack. We might as well start editing the “In Memoriam” for Russell Wilson to play at halftime. I trust Brown on the left side, but Chicago’s gonna have its way with the right side and perhaps the most successful plays by Ifedi will be the ones he gets a holding penalty on. At least if Wilson survives those ones.Editor’s note: He totally got me there. I thought “this man is crazy - Ifedi vs. Mack and he’s not worried?!”WCG: 3. The Seahawks surprised some people by taking Rashad Penny in the first round of this year’s draft, and it’s hard to not want to draw comparisons with Marshawn Lynch. How has Penny looked and are the Seahawks truly going to run a split backfield with Chris Carson and Penny or are they waiting for Penny to take over?FG: Hmmm, yeah. There are some similarities in height, weight, 40-time, and broken/missed tackles. I’d say Lynch was still a considerably better and more athletic prospect and I wouldn’t expect Penny to become Lynch. I think Chris Carson is going to be a better running back than Penny http://www.bearscheapstores.com/pat-o_donnell-jersey-cheap , but that’s also kind of a ridiculous statement; we’ve seen five games from Carson and one from Penny. But between the two, I think Carson is better. He’s a better runner and a much better pass blocker. The Seahawks split snaps on Sunday and I really hope they don’t do that again. Just give the ball to Carson. Penny’s time could come -- and it should -- but Carson gives them a better chance right now and I think Penny’s weaknesses showed in the loss at Denver. Maybe not though, it’s only one game. I do think Carson could be a Pro Bowl back if they give him enough time to do so.Both players should be in the offensive gameplan for 2018, 2019, and 2020. I don’t know what happened to C.J. Prosise, they didn’t use him at all.WCG: 4. Earl Thomas ended his hold out and played in the season opener. Given the major changes on the defense in recent years, Thomas is in some sense the last vestige of the great Seahawks defenses. What is his future with Seattle and are the fans prepared for life after Earl? Are there stars-in-waiting?FG: I think this could be Earl’s last season with the Seahawks. After the game he said that he’s willing to return to the team next year but also said things that make him seem bitter that it came to this. But it’s not just about Earl leaving, I also think Seattle is hesitant to commit to him beyond 2018 and there’s a few reasons for that:- Earl probably wants a raise, more like $12 million+ a year, setting a safety contract record. The Seahawks just made Kam Chancellor one of the highest-paid safeties in the NFL and he’ll never play a down on that contract. In general, safeties are getting paid less while other positions set new high bars. Eric Reid is a free agent. George Iloka cost $1 million. The two sides might be way far apart on money.- Earl is going to be 30 and the team may be focused on getting younger.- Seattle has poured some other resources in at safety (Bradley McDougald, Tedric Thompson, Delano Hill) and may be willing to test that out, but make no mistake: Earl missed 10 snaps against the Broncos and the defense was awful. His holdout, if it had lasted into the season, could have been disastrous for the Seahawks. I think fans are prepared though. Most of them were willing to trade Earl for a second round pick, when polled. I think many would accept a third rounder. After his Week 1 game though, I’m sure many of them have changed their minds.WCG: 5. Pete Carroll is no spring chicken and the Seahawks seem to be stuck between competing and rebuilding. What is Carroll’s future in Seattle and if the end is near, what are you most looking for in a replacement?FG: I really don’t know what to say. I think Carroll plans to coach in 2019, at least. Beyond that, I try not to think about things. I don’t think NFL teams can plan a future beyond two seasons. Not that you don’t sign players for six years or whatever, I’m not saying that, but so much will change in two years. So much. The Eagles went from Chip Kelly to Super Bowl champions in two years. Jim Harbaugh went from three straight NFC Championship games to Michigan in two years. I have no idea and I wouldn’t even know how to begin thinking about the franchise after Carroll, it’s been entirely his identity since 2010. I don’t see any obvious replacement on the staff right now.WCG: Bonus: My experience in the Pacific Northwest is to try and score as much smoked salmon as possible because it’s delicious and can’t be beat out there, but for Seattle specifically, what are the strength’s of the local food scene and what’s a must have for anyone traveling out that way?FG: I haven’t lived in Seattle in 10 years, so I had to ask some of my writers.John Fraley: Of course you can get just about every type of food in Seattle — such a cosmopolitan city, such a destination for the entire Pacific Rim. And the Asian cuisines are endless. But what I’ve found is most consistently satisfying around here: Indian food. The curry options are neverending, the spices are fresh-tasting even the thousandth time. It would be exceedingly hard to go wrong with any Indian dish. Don’t get the bbq, unless it’s Korean.Sean Clement: Palisade Restaurant in North Seattle is my favorite. It’s a little spendy but you can eat looking out over the water and get some excellent food. If they’re in Tacoma the Korean and Vietnamese food is amazing.Thank you to Kenneth and Field Gulls!

But so far at camp, this is the thinnest position group on the roster. So thin, that they had to sign a guy off the street just to be able to practice two deep at the position. Week one against the Packers is still a long way off, so it should all work out, right?Roster LocksRoquan Smith will sign eventually. My guess is by the weekend if not before. If this drags on another week I’ll be concerned, but so far his absence is in the news because the Bears are only one of two teams that have reported to camp.Players only have so much wiggle room when it comes to their contracts, so I don’t fault them for getting everything they can. The Bears are just protecting their interests, but at some point they need to realize getting Smith locked up and at practice is the best thing for the franchise. Fellow rookie Joel Iyiegbuniwe tweaked his shoulder and has been held out for a couple days now. The Bears discovered Danny Trevathan’s hamstring injury on the first day of camp, and we haven’t heard much about it since then. This could very well be them being extra cautious with a player that is a no-doubt-about-it starter. Nick Kwiatkoski has benefited from the extra time with the ones in camp Womens Aaron Lynch Jersey , but his roster spot was never in question. He was even spotted working some at outside linebacker during camp so far, which would line up with the offseason reports that the Bears were thinking about having him slide into the Christian Jones (ILB/OLB) role. A good bet to make itEvery year of the Vic Fangio era, the Bears opened up with four inside linebackers on the 53-man roster, so if we go off that, then those four I listed as locks will make it awfully hard for a bubble guy to break through. But if one were to make it as a fifth ILB...On the bubble... I think that would be John Timu. I’ve always liked the way Timu plays football. He’s not the most athletic, but his instincts are sound and he’s made himself into a decent special teamer. Josh Woods, who is converting from defensive back, and Ro’Derrick Hoskins, who just signed yesterday, are both trying to impress enough to make the practice squad. EDIT: Depth concerns led the Bears to add Ro’Derrick Hoskins, but he’ll have an uphill climb to the final roster.
s we continue with the unlikeliest (sneaky) most important Bears for the 2018 season Womens Eric Kush Jersey , we move on to center Cody Whitehair. If you missed number 4 on cornerbacks Prince Amukamara and Bryce Callahan, you can find that here. One of the oldest adages in football is that games are won and lost in the trenches. I wholeheartedly subscribe to this notion. If you can’t open holes, your running back won’t gain yards. If you can’t protect your quarterback, you can’t throw the ball. This concept is simple and has been proven time and time again. While the left tackle is generally the superstar of the offensive line, you can make a pretty strong argument that center is the most important position. First off, it’s the only position on the field that touches the ball on every play. Sure the quarterback generally does that as well, but throw in some wildcat or direct snaps to a running back, and that distinction belongs solely to the center. Another highly under-appreciated job of the center is to call out the “Mike” linebacker which determines which way the whole offensive line will block. If the center makes mistakes with the defensive front http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/danny-trevathan-jersey , it could lead to a poor play or even a turnover. The average football fan may not realize how important this job is, but it should not be understated. The center is also the only offensive lineman that has to ensure the ball is in the hands of the quarterback—or running back—before engaging the defensive lineman or linebacker across from him. Centers must be strong enough to block a massive nose tackle and also athletic enough to get to the second level on combination blocks. In the Bears zone blocking scheme, this is immensely important. Incumbent center Cody Whitehair is going to have to have a good season for this offense to reach its potential. While the Bears spent a draft pick on a college center in James Daniels, so far in camp it appears that Whitehair is going to be the man. There is a familiarity between he and Mitch Trubisky from last year that shouldn’t be discounted. While Daniels may ultimately end up as the center and Whitehair a guard, I don’t think it happens this year. New Bears head coach Matt Nagy is still installing his offense which, by all accounts, is fairly complex. It makes sense to go with the 3rd year center out of Kansas State over a rookie. Another element to this is the addition of offensive line coach Harry Hiestand. The venerable coach is widely renowned for his ability to get the most from his players. Whitehair is in the best hands he’s ever been in, and that’s a great thing. This offense has a ton of motion http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/nick-kwiatkoski-jersey , a lot of complex looks and formations. So far in training camp, the Bears have consistently had a “check hut” where Trubisky has had a chance to survey the defense before making any further changes. It takes discipline to play center in this offense and I have full confidence that Whitehair is the right man for the job. We are at the dawn of a new era of Bears football, one in which the offense is going to be cutting-edge, not the defense. At the center of all of that is the center, Cody Whitehair. Relatively speaking, the Chicago Bears’ injury reports have been very mild this year so far. The Bears are listing three players as out for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but none are season ending injuries. Chicago will be without wide out Anthony Miller (shoulder), and corner backs Prince Amukamara (hamstring) and Marcus Cooper (hamstring). Neither of these three practiced at all this week. With Miller out there could be more opportunities for Kevin White to see meaningful reps in the passing game Womens Allen Robinson Jersey , although Josh Bellamy was mentioned by head coach Matt Nagy as the player that will replace Miller in the slot.We may also finally see rookie Javon Wims activated as well. Amukamara’s absence could lead to nickleback Bryce Callahan starting outside (then kicking to the slot on nickle), but we could see rookie UDFA Kevin Toliver II get the start outside. “It’s going to be a really good opportunity for him,” says Nagy of Toliver. “He’s certainly going to be challenged by those great wide receivers and tight ends.”For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers there will be no Chris Conte revenge game, because the Bucs put the ex-Bear on injured reserve this week. They will also be without starting defensive tackle Beau Allen (foot) who has been ruled out. Questionable Buccaneers are DT Vita Vea (calf), S Jordan Whitehead (shoulder/hamstring), S Marcus Williams (hamstring), and CB Carlton Davis (groin). Whitehead and Davis are both starters and both were limited at practice today.
Colts Cast: Colts top concerns Youth Quincy Wilson Jersey , surprises, and confirmations from training camp Before training camp I had some opinions on whaIn the practices I’ve attended, I have come away with some confirmations of those expectations for some of the Indianapolis Colts, but there have also been some surprises and concerns arise as well. This scheme is a completely different animal, at least defensively, and the offense has a new structure as well as playcaller with Frank Reich. Trying to look at the positions which have immediate roles for rookies and other young players, is interesting because we don’t have a lot to compare them to. Some of these rookies have stepped up immediately, some are still in the thick of a process to getting into a rotation and others are largely camp bodies at this point. Even more importantly http://www.coltsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-clayton-geathers-jersey , how are the few legitimate veteran guys on this roster going to affect the rest of the team and its success or failure?Which positions, players should we worry about when it comes to an all-inclusive look at the potential of the roster itself? Who has us excited, and where do we see real improvements on the horizon? We’ll likely have different opinions of most of these examples I lay out today, but that’s the beauty of the preseason performances following training camp. Who’s learning? Who’s a ways behind the rest? And who can we count on to make an immediate impact on this team? Today I look at several positions and players as the official start to the Colts preseason awaits us. Tampa Bay’s terrible defense puts them in situations where the offense has to throw the ball consistently. With Ryan Fitzpatrick’s magic wearing off Jabaal Sheard Jersey , it’s now Winston’s time to take over the offense that leads the league in passing yards per game (363.2). Winston is available in about 60 percent of leagues throughout ESPN, Yahoo!, and NFL.com, which means he’s available in most leagues for either a quarterback swap or a team that is looking for a boom-or-bust candidate as a quarterback No. 2. The Bucs get a Falcons team that is struggling to defend opposing quarterbacks, giving up a completion rate of 69.8 percent per game. Atlanta’s defense has also allowed fourth-most fantasy points allowed to signal-callers, setting up Winston for a nice Sunday performance. Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty ImagesAlfred Morris, Running back, San Francisco 49ersMorris is getting the touches that will allow him to be potentially an RB2 or FLEX option for Week 6 Authentic Margus Hunt Jersey , tallying 12 carries in four of his five appearances thus far. That number will more than likely increase, at least for the early portion of the game, with Matt Brieda expected to miss Monday’s game. The former Redskin star could find himself with a great performance against a team that is allowing the seventh-most yards per carry after first contact this season. Jimmy Garoppolo is out for the season, so the 49ers are expected to lean more heavily on the run-game. It also helps that C.J. Beathard targets running backs on 33 percent of his dropbacks over his career. Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY SportsMohamed Sanu, Wide receiver, Atlanta FalconIf you’re an owner struggling to find a WR2, WR3, or even FLEX option Youth Al Woods Jersey , Sanu is a good candidate for Week 6 against a Tampa Bay defense giving up 370 yards PER GAME, setting up Matt Ryan to have a field day to Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones, and Sanu. Over the last three weeks, Sanu is averaging 15.5 fantasy points. Sanu has thrived a lot in the slot season, catching 12 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 20 targets. That’s good news for Sanu as the Buccaneers have given up 55 receptions and seven touchdowns to opposing receivers in the slot.
Andrew Luck to start Colts preseason opener Rigoberto Sanchez Jersey , play the first quarter For those trying to decide whether it is worth it to tune in tomorrow for the Colts’ first preseason game action against Seattle, entative plan for quarterback Andrew Luck as far as playing time goes is to start the game and play for most if not all of the first quarter. When addressing the media on Tuesday, head coach Frank Reich said that Luck would start and would play through a “range of plays and situations” that they want to hit with Luck and that they will keep things fluid as far as how much playing time he would get. Reich joked that it would be a quarter, “give or take a half a quarter.”Reich repeatedly talked about seeking rhythm as one of the primary things they’ll look for out of Luck’s play early in the game, emphasizing the need to control the rush of adrenaline that will come with being back in football. He is looking to see Luck get the ball out quickly and move down the field. If you were hoping to see something evolutionary on the offensive side of the ball, you might be disappointed. When asked about the likelihood of Luck operating the “no huddle” on Thursday Al Woods Jersey , Reich shot the idea down.“Probably not. You know, it’s preseason so we’ll stay pretty basic.”Reich isn’t looking to show his hand before the games count, so expect the offense to be vanilla. However, vanilla offense with Andrew Luck at the helm is a whole lot more exciting than most of what we got in 2017, so it could still be a lot of fun to watch. While this game won’t count, it will matter a lot as the next major in Luck’s progress toward a full return. A strong showing will go a long way to calm the fears of Colts fans who are still wary Cheap J'Marcus Webb Jersey , and will quiet some of the questions outside of Indianapolis about what the Colts should expect out of Luck this season. The game kicks off at 10pm EDT tomorrow. Check here to find out how you can watch or listen.Frank Reich celebrates first win as Colts head coach The Indianapolis Colts picked up their first win of the 2018 season, 21-9, over the Washington Redskins on the road. Last week the Redskins defense was the best in the league at defending third-down situations, and the Colts were the best offense at converting them. Today the Colts offense was equally impressive, and the Redskins simply didn’t have an answer for the defensive intensity the team brought to the field. This is also Frank Reich’s first win as the Colts head coach, and as a result Adam Vinatieri Jersey , he received the game ball from owner Jim Irsay. There are many reasons Colts fans are loving the new scheme and approach in-game from the first-year coach, but his celebration with the team after the game was pretty awesome as well. All of the sudden fans and teams around the league are seeing that this Colts roster is not one that will give up, and that their speed, athleticism and play design on both sides of the ball is going to keep them in a lot of games this year. The Colts travel to face off against Reich’s former team (Philadelphia Eagles 1-1) next Sunday. The Eagles did throw a ton today, but lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-27 and if Nick Foles starts, the Colts shouldn’t be counted out once they get in between the lines. Andrew Luck is playing pretty well http://www.coltscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-eric-ebron-jersey , and this defense — led by Darius Leonard — is as energetic and opportunistic as we’ve ever seen in Indianapolis. One thing is for sure, Frank Reich is still young enough to at least attempt to dance (if you can actually call something from Fortnite a dance), but Jim Irsay is not and should never try again.
