Texted, talked. Maybe. It is what it is right now. He’s not here so we just have to talk about the people that we have.”Whatever the content of those communications, Gruden said there are “no updates whatsoever” regarding the holdout, and he made it clear that they’re getting ready with the current members of the roster.“We’re preparing with the guys we have right now,” Gruden said. “That’s all we can do. We’re getting Geron [Christian Kelvin Harmon Washington Redskins Jersey , Jr.] ready, we’re getting [Donald] Penn ready. So we’ll go that route.”They’ll likely go that route into Week One and beyond, unless Williams experiences the kind of dramatic change in his position that no one currently expects him to experience.
KANSAS CITY Ryan Shazier Jersey , Mo. (AP) — presents with his little sister and the rest of his family, then the Chiefs quarterback hopped in his car for a quick trip to Arrowhead Stadium.Where he watched film. On Christmas. He got in his usual couple of hours of game-week prep on what is typically a day off for NFL teams, then hopped back in his car and headed home for the family feast. Then he watched more film. Still on Christmas. It’s that dedication to Mahomes’ craft that has helped the second-year pro become an MVP candidate as a first-time starter. He already has shattered numerous franchise records, including yards passing and TD passes in a single season, and Mahomes has positioned Kansas City for a third straight AFC West title and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a victory Sunday over Oakland. The biggest wild card for the Chiefs entering the season has become their one constant.“It’s the process. You set up the schedule for a reason,” Mahomes said Wednesday, when the rest of the Chiefs returned to practice.“You follow the same schedule — game plan, watch film, practice — and you do the same things you’ve been doing to have success.”At this point Maurkice Pouncey Jersey , why would Mahomes deviate from his routine? He’s thrown 48 touchdown passes to lead the NFL by a dozen, and his 4,816 yards passing trail only Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He leads the league in yards per attempt among QBs that have started all season, and only the Saints’ Drew Brees has a better quarterback rating.Speaking of ratings, Mahomes only has had three games in which his rating has failed to reach 100, and the Chiefs still won all of those games. He’s thrown a TD pass in every game except one, and that was a 30-14 rout of Jacksonville. And he’s thrown at least three touchdown passes in 10 games, with a pair of six-touchdown efforts in shootouts against the Patriots and Rams.“You just trust the process,” Mahomes said in explaining his unflappable nature. “Trust that your teammates are going to make the big plays they’ve made all year Cameron Heyward Jersey , and trust in my ability not to do too much. You just play the same game you’ve played all year.”Or the same game he’s played his whole life.Few were convinced that Mahomes would seamlessly transition from the Air Raid system of Texas Tech to the versatile, complex West Coast offense of Andy Reid. But the Chiefs coach saw enough of him last season in practice that Reid was willing to trade away Alex Smith and give him a shot. Now, the Chiefs are promoting Mahomes in MVP hype videos as they barrel toward the playoffs.“I am happy for all these guys, whatever accolades they get,” Reid said. “Patrick has worked hard for all of that stuff. There are a lot of great players in this league, so all the sudden you get pointed out as doing that, it’s important. Then it’s important to get back to what is real and that’s the game. But I am happy for him. A lot of work went into that for him.”Right, the game. The one that Mahomes was in the film room prepping for on Christmas, while the rest of his family was relaxing at home. The Chiefs have already squandered two chances to lock up the division title Ben Roethlisberger Jersey , and they could fall all the way to the No. 5 seed with a loss Sunday. So it makes sense that Mahomes was cramming for the Raiders on Tuesday.Even if it didn’t mean straying from the norm.“Everybody is excited for the opportunity,” Mahomes said, “getting to play a division opponent, a rival in our division, then get to play at Arrowhead Stadium. We want to stay here from here on out. If we come out and play like we know we can, we can make a run at this thing.”Notes: RG Laurent Duvernay-Tardif returned to practice for the first time since breaking his fibula and tearing ligaments in Week 5 against Jacksonville. It begins a three-week window in which Duvernay-Tardif can get up to speed. “We’ll just bring him back gradually,” Reid said. “It’s just a matter of getting caught up with the speed of the game.” … Reid said WR Sammy Watkins was out of a walking boot and “moving around,” though his return remains uncertain. He hasn’t played a full game since early November. After an emotion-filled win over Cleveland, the Steelers look to really roll at the half-way point of their season if they could just exorcise demons against a bitter rival in a tough place to play. If you want to know how my emotions fluctuated throughout the day Antonio Brown Jersey , keep on reading.Nonetheless, a simple reminder, a knee jerk reaction is an immediate and unthinking, emotional reaction. It’s basically shooting first and apologizing later. I can safely say that’s a true definition of your’s truly and a good lot of Steeler Nation. Here’s my real-time reactions during the Steelers’ most recent quest for redemption.Quarter 1.They need to get off of the field without yielding points on this first drive.Burnett was way out of position on the first down to Andrews.Even though the Ravens recovered, the botched handoff from Lamar Jackson could neutralize him going forward.Tuitt’s sack won’t count. He was offsides. They are bringing pressure and it’s their best bet to make a difference.I like Ben’s “stronger then hate” shoes. Nice tribute.Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY SportsIf they can get Conner going early, it will help set up the pass. I wonder if Big Ben sees TSizzle in his dreams. Not a fan of runs on third and long. That pooch punt was Berry-like. I’d rather them had gone for it.I’m glad Kay Jewelers allowed me to miss a big Raven gain.Hilton May be 5’9”, but he plays huge.Holding them to three is huge.James Washington needs a catch bad, but that was no way the rookie’s fault.Gotta love “Toe Tap Tony”.I’d love to see a TD here, but one to No. 13 would be awesome.Thought that was going to be a pick six.Pretty touchdown for James Conner. Nice assist by the Vanimal.AB’s finger needs to be okay.Quarter 2A good First Quarter for Pittsburgh. Need to keep it going. They seem better prepared for Jackson this time.A short pass third and long by BMore Greg Lloyd Jersey , glad to see another fan base shake their heads in disbelief.Washington is emerging. The line really won that first down. Good hole for JC.They aren’t going for it. Just looking to draw a penalty.Glad I was wrong.Love that drive. Love AB getting involved.Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY SportsWas surprised they called that on Edmunds. That really could have been a roughing call. Ben got walloped by Onwuasor.Really missed an opportunity on that drive. JuJu can’t drop those. The Steelers need to keep them pointless up to the half.Bud Dupree was definitely held there. No worries.Vance was down.Good half.Quarter 3A head shot is not equal to a hold. JuJu got crushed.Good blitz pick up by the Steelers. With JuJu out, switcher and Washington you can come up big.ABC. AB=Clutch.Good to see No. 19 back.A touchdown here could be a killer. I love when my predictions are wrong. Conner is closing in on the century mark.Amazing drive. That’s where deferring works perfectly. Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports Well looks like the prediction on Boswell’s being back was wrong. These teams are getting real chippy with each other now. It’s a shame that pick is getting negated. That could have really squashed the Ravens. With the lead only seven, the Steelers are approaching the danger zone.Bud Dupree has really come alive. He’s becoming an asset.Quarter 4Third and 23. Gotta stop them here.Should have had good field position, but the field just got flipped big time. They need a clock-killing drive here.Offensive PI. This officiating crew is awful.Josh Dobbs. Wow!!!Ben is a cowboy. Damaged, dinged but always rides. The Outlaw steals the show. I love Jesse James.Boswell needs to rebound here. And he does. Nice!Tomlin has these guys feeling it. He deserves more credit.Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY SportsDavis is having another nice game.TJ Watt just decimated Crabtree. Lucky that play didn’t net a first down. 5:23 left. Need to go to clock drain mode while remaining aggressive.Matt Feiler has really worked his way well on this line.Four 100-yard games in a row for Conner. Wow!Huge third down.AB is a huge player. So is Ben and JuJu.They need to convert again on third down to ice this game. That was a coverage sack. Smart by Ben to take it.:57 seconds. Never easy.Coty needs to catch those. Nice game by him though.Nix got blocked in the back. Not called. Really?Tuitt has really come alive. Dupree...Oh no!Great team win. But better yet, a complete game....So...now as I replay the game more and more in my head, my perceptions and maybe my prescriptions will alter. But for now, you just got a glimpse of the first thoughts that popped in my mind while I was watching this game. Feel free to get your knee jerks on in the comments section.

Derek Carr has already sought revenge in three previous contests — Week four in Indianapolis, week five in London, and week 8 in Houston. But no venue carries the ghosts for Derek Carr like this one.Week 13 at Kansas CityThere’s no place on earth where Derek Carr has struggled more than he has in Kansas City. He has never won there in five tries and has had some of the worst individual games of his career there as well. This started immediately for Carr. Ironically, it was against the Chiefs in Oakland that Carr got his first career win. The Raiders were 0-10 at the time and despite Carr not having a great game Lee Smith Jersey , the Raiders pulled out a 24-20 win over the Chiefs riding running back Latavius Murray. When the Raiders headed to KC three weeks later, the Chiefs were ready. They handed the Raiders a 31-13 loss while sacking Carr four times. His next trip to KC was in the 2017 season finale. There the Chiefs turned up the heat even more, sacking him six times and intercepting him once in a 33-21 Chiefs victory. No loss was more devastating than the one in 2016, however. The Raiders again headed to Arrowhead late in the season. This time, the two teams were neck-and-neck for the division title and Derek Carr was in the MVP discussion. His performance in that game brought all of that down.A win would all but lock up the AFC West title and keep Carr very much in the MVP race. But he went out and had the worst game of his career, completing just 17 of 41 passes for 117 yards and no touchdowns. The Raiders lost 13-21. Two weeks later Carr was injured, the Raiders lost to the Broncos in the season finale Vontaze Burfict Jersey , and the Chiefs won the division on the tiebreaker. The last two trips to Kansas City for Carr he has averaged under 200 yards passing with a combined 1 TD to 4 interceptions while being sacked six times. His career passer rating in Kansas City is 62.8. Only four times in his career did he have a passer rating below that in any single game outside of Kansas City and three of those four were as a rookie. Which means three of his four worst career games the past four seasons came at Arrowhead Stadium. That’s a serious monkey on his back. It’s a couple 400-pound gorillas at this point. The revenge he will be getting will be against those gorillas. This isn’t even about the Chiefs specifically. It’s about Carr and his past performances in a hostile environment like Arrowhead. Also see Derek Carr revenge games week four vs the Colts, week five vs the Bears, and week 8 vs the Texans. Early in Broncos training camp Drew Lock Denver Broncos Jersey , head coach hit a “little pothole” in his recovery from a third torn ACL but that he could be back on the practice field any day. It’s been more than a week since Fangio shared that assessment and Butt has yet to resume football activities. Given the number of times Butt has suffered the injury and the short list of players who have come back under similar circumstances, no one would be surprised if this wound up being the end of the line.Butt called this recovery process “the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through in my life” mentally, but he remains steadfast about his ability to get back into the Broncos lineup.“Right now I feel like I’m being tested and being thrown into the fire a little bit,” Butt said, via Nicki Jhabvala of TheAthletic.com. “To me, it just proves how much the game means to me. It almost broke me a couple of times. It would break 99 percent of other people. But I love this game, I’m committed to it and, yeah, there are dark days, but I’m still here at 7 every morning, still trying to work and get back. And I will get back. It’s just taking a little bit of time.”Butt said the knee is structurally OK and that the soreness that sent him back to the sideline has gotten better recently, but there’s still no timeline for returning to action. The longer that remains the case, the harder it will be to believe that Butt will be in uniform come the start of the season. The roller-coaster ride that is the 2019 Denver Broncos continues this week as they take their 2-5 record on the road to take on the 4-2 Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. While Laurie Drew Lock Denver Broncos Jersey , Jess, and I mostly talked about the long-term future of the franchise in the SSB Podcast above, we did talk a bit about the upcoming Broncos-Colts game. They both sided with most of Broncos Country in that they think Denver has little to no chance in this game, but I decided to go against the grain here with an upset Broncos win. We’ll have to see if that optimism is misplaced.Game PreviewNike Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Broncos shoeCheck out the new Broncos shoe from Nike! After a slow start, the Indianapolis Colts have turned their 2-2 record into a 4-2 record with an impressive road win against the Kansas City Chiefs and a home win over the Houston Texans - both of whom are playoff contenders. That doesn’t bode well for the Denver Broncos, who have more questions than answers for their 2-5 record. Despite two impressive wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans in recent weeks, their last game was a 30-6 drubbing at home on Thursday Night Football against the Chiefs backup quarterback. The Broncos defense has played well regardless, since fixing much of their early season issues. That means this game will be won or lost based on how well Joe Flacco and the offense plays against a strong Colts defense. Which means we won’t see much confidence from fans heading into this game. That offense simply doesn’t inspire anyone right now. It’s almost as if Vegas is begging for money to go the Colts way. It doesn’t necessarily mean Denver will win Drew Lock Jersey 2019 , but it could mean that Vegas expects them to play Indianapolis close. Matchup HistoryThe matchup history between these two teams is all about Peyton Manning. Before Manning, the Broncos were 9-2 all-time. However, while Manning was in the league as both a Colt and a Bronco, Denver went just 3-11 against Indianapolis. However, they’ve won two straight since Manning retired, so maybe that’s a sign of things returning to the way they were pre-Manning. Friday with a player who could be a possible addition if they do wind up making a deal.Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets met with former Iowa tight end Noah Fant. Fant is expected to be a first-round pick come April 25 Taylor Rapp Jersey , although the expected spot is a bit lower in the order that the Jets are currently set to pick.Adding Fant would give the Jets another piece as they build their offense around 2018 first-round quarterback Sam Darnold. They have one good one at tight end already in 2018 fourth-rounder Chris Herndon. On Saturday, the Jets moved on to meeting a player who would likely be under consideration if they stay put at No. 3. Former Kentucky pass rusher Josh Allen visited with the team as he continues to work the circuit of teams positioned at the top of the first round. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Myles Jack squeezed into his locker stall, his leather chair pushed to one side, his sweaty clothes scattered across the floor. He had Jacksonville’s season opener against the New York Giants running through his mind, so the mere mention of New England caught him off guard.“Oh, we’re going way back?” Jack asked last week.Just eight months. Just to the team’s final game of the 2017 season. Just to the closest the small-market franchise has even been to the Super Bowl.Just to one play, really. The Play, actually. With the Patriots (1-0) and Jaguars (1-0) meeting again Sunday in Jacksonville Shareef Miller Jersey , it’s sure to be a topic of conversation outside — maybe even inside — the locker rooms. The Jags allowed a third-and-18 conversion in the fourth quarter of the AFC championship game at New England in late January, a lapse that was instrumental in the Patriots overcoming a 10-point deficit and one that still haunts Jacksonville’s players and coaches more than 250 days later.“I was just starting to forget about that play,” Jack said. “I can’t believe I have to relive that.”The Jaguars did just about everything right through three-plus quarters against the defending Super Bowl champions. The defense pressured Tom Brady, sacking him three times . The offense controlled the clock, keeping the three-time league MVP on the sideline. Together, they built a lead and stretched it to 20-10 with a field goal early in the final frame. Jack even forced a fumble on the next possession that could have been a touchdown. He was ruled down by contact, and the Jags followed with a three-and-out series.Everything started to unravel a few minutes later. With 10:49 remaining and the Pats facing third-and-18 at their own 25-yard line, the Jaguars liked their chances — and for good reason. Jacksonville’s vaunted defense ranked fifth in the league in preventing third-down conversions of 16 yards or longer. The unit featured six Pro Bowl selections, two speedy linebackers Germaine Pratt Jersey , the league’s top-rated secondary and arguably the best pass rush in franchise history. The Jags had few, if any, holes on that side of the ball.In third-down situations of 16 yards or longer, they had stopped opponents short of first downs 17 times in 18 tries during the regular season.None of those came against Brady. The New England quarterback handled a low snap in a shotgun formation, took a five-step drop to buy extra time, shuffled left to avoid Dareus’ rush and then threw a low pass to Danny Amendola in the middle of the field that he hauled in for a 21-yard gain.“I remember how big the play was,” Patriots running back James White recalled. “I don’t remember the exact play call or what-not, but it was a big play. I mean, Danny always comes up with plays like that http://www.bengalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-ryan-finley-jersey , finds the right spot in zone. We had good protection; the offensive line did a great job. Tom did a good job finding him. We needed that play in order to get to where we wanted to be, so it was huge play.”New England scored four plays later , seizing the momentum from the unlikely conversion and leaving the Jags reeling.Players, coaches and fans point to other reasons for the Patriots’ comeback: Brady being Brady; officials ruling Jack down; Pro Bowl defensive linemen Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue getting injured; two busted coverages near the goal line that resulted in touchdowns; and the offense’s inability to run the ball late. But the one that sticks out for everyone is the third-and-long play.“It still haunts you a little bit, but just like every game, you learn good things and bad things,” Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash said. “Would you change things? Would you not change things? I do not think one play determines the outcome of a ball game. I think if you do, you are crazy. Obviously, we would have liked to get off the grass there.”Wash called for a zone scheme Renell Wren Jersey , “Two Palms” to be precise. It was a calculated move based on the belief that most of Brady’s explosive passing plays come against man coverage. After the game, All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey questioned why the Jags played so much zone in the second half, noting how Amendola found holes for the key reception as well as two touchdowns. On the third-down catch, Amendola ran a seam route that started between the left-side numbers and the hash marks. He curled behind Jack, who had taken a few steps right to cover White out of the backfield, and in front of safety Tashaun Gipson.Gipson, who missed practice during the week because of a foot injury, took blame for the reception.“That is just one of them things where you got relaxed,” said Gipson http://www.bengalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-michael-jordan-jersey , adding that he thought the team’s pass rush would get to Brady. “I am not going to lie to you. I told myself I would never answer this question again. But that play right there, I would be lying if I said that didn’t keep me up all offseason. Got lax.”Now the Jaguars are left to deal with The Play forever and relive it this week.“Now you’re making me sad,” Jack said.
Sunday’s game against the Lions Darnell Savage Jr. Jersey , but a few they’ll be monitoring closely in the next two days.Via Eric Williams of ESPN.com, Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said wide receiver Mike Williams would be a game-time decision. He’s listed as questionable with a knee injury.“I just need to see that he can go out and play, and not hurt himself,” Lynn said. “He has a couple more days, so we’ll go day by day.”Also, Chargers kicker Michael Badgley kicked during Friday’s practice, and hopes his groin injury doesn’t flare up again. The Chargers had to turn to punter Ty Long last week.“I kicked well with the team today, but I’ll see how it goes and see how I feel,? Badgley said. The Chargers have ruled tight end Hunter Henry out, and cornerback Michael Davis is doubtful. Also questionable are Denzel Perryman, Jatavis Brown, Roderic Teamer http://www.packerscheapstore.com/elgton-jenkins-jersey-cheap , Isaac Rochell, and Geremy Davis. Week Two of the 2019 NFL season kicked off on Thursday with a win by the Buccaneers and it continues with 14 more games on Sunday, which means that the 28 teams in those games submitted their final injury reports of the week on Friday.Questionable players are uncertain to play, doubtful players are unlikely to play and out should be self-explanatory. Players who are on active rosters and don’t appear below should be considered healthy enough to play barring any announcements on Saturday. FOXBOROUGH Jordan Scarlett Jersey , Mass. (AP) — with his big grabs down the stretch in the AFC championship game, the veteran Patriots tight end also did plenty of dirty work.Gronk the blocker? The label didn’t fit in the past. But this season, one of the best receiving tight ends in NFL history and Tom Brady’s longtime favorite target made some big contributions to the Patriots’ rejuvenated running game.“Whatever coaches call, whatever plays we call … blocking, receiving, no matter what is, whatever play is called, just got to go out there and do your job,” Gronkowski said.It was an underwhelming season statistically for Gronkowski, who contemplated retirement after last year’s Super Bowl loss. He appeared in 13 games as he fought through nagging back and ankle injuries, finishing with 47 catches for 682 yards and three touchdowns. But Gronk did more of the things that don’t appear on the stat sheet. And he’s fine with that as he heads into a Super Bowl matchup with the Rams eyeing the third ring in his nine-year career.Brady said Gronkowski’s ability as a blocker might be the most underrated part of his game.“He’s one of the most dominant blocking tight ends in the league,” Brady said. “He’s a threat any time he’s out there.”One of his biggest plays in the Patriots’ overtime victory over Kansas City for the AFC title came in the run game. After the Chiefs took their first lead, New England responded with a 10-play, 75-yard drive that ended with Gronkowski pushing aside Kansas City linebacker Justin Houston on fourth-and-inches and allowing Sony Michel to jog into the end zone from 10 yards out.Gronk’s future beyond this season is once again an open question. He will be entering the final season of a six-year contract in 2019 and is scheduled to make about $9 million. Before the season David Montgomery Jersey , he acknowledged he would like to rework the deal, and he skipped a voluntary offseason workout. He later had bonus incentives added to his contract. He’d be missed if he doesn’t return. After a quiet performance in the Patriots’ divisional playoff win over the Chargers, Gronkowski was targeted a season-high 11 times against the Chiefs, catching six passes for 79 yards and coming up with big grabs down the stretch.Brady was 5 for 5 on third down in the fourth quarter and overtime, with two of those passes going to Gronkowski. Those catches, for 25 and 15 yards, set up the go-ahead and game-winning touchdowns. It was nothing new for the 29-year-old Gronk, who entered the season with 75 postseason receptions — the most by a tight end in NFL history. In the regular season, he has the most TD catches thrown by Brady to any player (78).The Rams’ defense was the second-worst in the league this season, giving up 1,075 yards receiving to opposing tight ends. It should mean plenty of opportunities for Gronkowski to show the combination of size, strong hands and agility that has made him a matchup nightmare throughout his career. His chemistry with Brady means he knows the ball could always come his way, no matter what kind of game he’s having.“You’ve got to have confidence in each other,” Gronkowski said. “That’s what practice is all about. That’s knowing each other is all about. Knowing that when it comes to those situations and you’ve got to put that ball up Riley Ridley Jersey , I’ve got to make the play. … That’s the trust that we have with each other. We love playing with each other. Just a bond we have, to go out there and always be on the same page.” There’s a good chance the Patriots beat the Jets by a large margin Sunday, and if the margin eventually becomes excessive, Jets coach Adam Gase won’t complain about it.The Patriots clearly could have taken a foot off the gas last week against the helpless Dolphins, but were still dialing up blitzes and playing Tom Brady late in a 43-0 thrashing.“I like it,? Gase said, via Manish Mehta of the . “But that’s just me. . . .Asked whether there was a sportsmanship consideration, Gase shook that off: “Nope. It’s the NFL. This isn’t pee-wee football.”The Patriots have outscored opponents 76-3 so far, and Brady has played every snap. Gase also applauded that (clearly he’s buttering up Bill Belichick), but said he thinks repetitions in a game matter, regardless of score.“Here’s how I look at this,? Gase said. “It’s the second week of the season. The way that our league is structured now, those in-game reps are really valuable. Everything that you do in a game, especially at the beginning of the year Greedy Williams Jersey , it’s going to help you get better for the mid-part to the end of the season.”?So, what we get to do at practice per week and training camp, how (little) contact that you have, the spring and all those types of things. These in-game reps whether you’re up, down, whatever it is ? they’re all important. So, if you get in this situation, you want to keep playing. Because those are going to be valuable four or five weeks down the road. I mean, there really is value to that.”So even if Luke Falk isn’t able to lead his team to a win (or even to a cover of a 23-point spread), Gase can at least take comfort knowing he is providing value. For somebody.
FLORHAM PARK Will Harris Jersey , N.J. (AP) —and in the stands as cellphones lit up with texts delivering the scary news.A young player from a rival high school football squad in Florida had been seriously injured during a game and he might not make it.“Everybody on the team where I was from was like, ‘Oh, man, he must’ve just got like a big hit,'” the New York Jets tight end recalled. “We heard later that he passed away, so it was kind of a big deal.”Taylor Haugen was only 15 on Aug. 30, 2008, when he went out across the middle of the field for a pass, reached up and grabbed the football — and was immediately slammed into by two defenders, one to the front of his body and the other to his back. The impact to Haugen’s abdominal area ruptured his liver and the Niceville High School wide receiver was rushed to the hospital, where he died a few hours later.“The surgeons who worked on my child all night said it looked like a car crash,” Kathy Haugen said in a telephone interview.Leggett, who was a wide receiver for nearby Navarre High School in the Florida Panhandle, had never met Haugen, but was shaken by his stunning death. Ten years later, Leggett is honoring his memory with his “Touchdowns For Taylor” campaign, working with Haugen’s parents and the Taylor Haugen Foundation to raise awareness about abdominal injuries in youth football and trying to educate parents, players and coaches about how to better prevent them.Shortly after Leggett was drafted by New York in the fifth round out of Clemson last year, his agents asked if he was interested in supporting any charities. Leggett talked to someone from back home, and they mentioned the Taylor Haugen Foundation.“It just brought back all those memories from back in high school because I was there (in Florida) when it happened http://www.detroitlionsteamonline.com/austin-bryant-jersey ,” Leggett said. “So, it was just something I wanted to be a part of.”The 23-year-old Leggett started the “Touchdowns For Taylor” charity campaign last season through the sports fundraising platform Pledge It, with donors contributing money for every touchdown catch by the Jets this season.“We’ve never been Jets fans in our entire lives,” Brian Haugen said with a big laugh, “but we find ourselves rooting for the Jets to score touchdowns.”New York has 11 TD catches so far, with Leggett contributing to the total with the first of his NFL career in Week 4 at Jacksonville.“Last year, I didn’t get to play at all and my soon-to-be mother-in-law actually thought it would be cool to donate as much as my jersey number, so with 86, she’ll donate $86 per touchdown,” said a smiling Leggett, who missed last season with a knee injury. “We had a lot of touchdowns last year and she thought it was specifically just for my touchdowns, so it was kind of funny because she was the biggest donor.”Leggett and Haugen’s parents met for the first time in July in Florida, where they were able to chat about life in the NFL, high school rivalries, chilly Northeast weather — and, most of all, Taylor, and their combined mission.“He’s just a great kid,” Kathy Haugen said of Leggett. “He’s a wonderful person and we’re really honored that he wanted to do something to give back to his community and chose the foundation and our son’s legacy to do it.”Added Brian Haugen: “He’s a sweet soul.”They are all fiercely driven by the same goal: spreading the word that abdominal injuries are potentially life-threatening to anyone playing football. And there are ways of offering better protection.“If you think about football, and I think this is the story that people don’t get is with the chop-block rules and helmet-to-helmet contact Max Scharping Jersey , where are they going to hit?” Brian Haugen said. “The torso is now the target.”The Haugens have spent the last 10 years doing all they can to educate by speaking at conferences and workshops around the country and collaborating with medical experts and others in the college and NFL communities to learn more.“The problem that needs to be fixed is, how do we avoid abdominal injuries, or at least try to better protect against them?” Brian Haugen said. “People say, ‘Wow, that never happens.’ No, dude, you don’t get it. Kathy gets phone calls almost daily from parents across the country who see this thing that ‘never happens.’“It happens all the time.”One of the most frustrating aspects for the Haugens is that statistics on abdominal injuries and deaths from football-related hits at the high school level are largely incomplete or inaccurate. It’s also a big reason the Haugens started the foundation bearing the name of their only child. They are pushing for consistent injury tracking and lobbying for better protection standards at the youth sports level.“Logic would say that if you’re going to protect the organ on top of your shoulders,” Kathy Haugen said, “you would protect the organs within the middle of your body.”The Haugens support a product called the EvoShield shirt, which provides padded protection to the abdominal region and is worn by players at every level of the sport, including the NFL. They also started the Youth Equipment for Sports Safety (YESS) program to educate athletes and provide them with equipment to protect against abdominal injuries. They have also developed a six-part “Pledge To Protect,” which includes a goal of making sure that by 2028 everyone playing youth football throughout the United States is wearing abdominal protection equipment as an essential part of their sports gear.“It’s being aware that this is an injury that takes place, that there are steps as a parent you can take to make sure that your child is better protected,” Kathy Haugen said. “Ask questions and ask your coaches — be engaged. You are your child’s best advocate when it comes to safety.”The Haugens say they still wouldn’t have prevented their son from playing the game he loved. But they stress they are educated now about the type of injuries that Taylor suffered — and they would know now how to better keep him safe. And they, along with Leggett and their many supporters, want other families to learn how to protect their kids — and never experience the loss they did.“I think it’s always a terrible situation when parents have to bury their children,” Leggett said. “But they took the terrible thing that happened to their son and they’re trying to make it better for other families who have kids who are playing the sport of football, and they’re trying to make it better for everybody else.“I mean, they’re extremely strong for what they do and it’s good to see.” GREEN BAY, Wis. ? A 16-year NFL coaching veteran, Philbin’s college coaching resume goes back to Tulane in 1984. He’s in his second stint as offensive coordinator in Green Bay, having held the job when the Packers won the Super Bowl in the 2010 season, and when the offense set franchise records the next season.Philbin was head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2012-15. He spent two seasons on the Colts’ staff before returning to Green Bay this year. He has been heavily involved in planning, installation and putting together play scripts. He met regularly with McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers. This week, though, will be a little different.“Sometimes, because I wasn’t calling the plays, I could kind of peek ahead a little bit so we could move forward a little bit,” Philbin said. “I think that will be the biggest difference. I’m not going to be looking at our next opponent until the game is over.”“And then obviously just sequencing the calls the right way and hopefully they work when we call ’em,” he added.7<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:Upon Further Review: Packers vs. CardinalsAP | Copyright The Associated Press. All rights reserved.McCarthy was fired after a 20-17 loss on Sunday at home to the lowly Arizona Cardinals. His specialty was offense, but the once-prolific production had slacked off. Empty third downs and a lack of potent plays have been season-long issues. Rodgers’ completion percentage is his lowest in three seasons, though he has still thrown just one interception this year. Drops by receivers especially plagued the Packers on Sunday.“I just think you really need to be better in situational offense if you want to win games http://www.pantherscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-greg-little-jersey , so we’re going to pay a little more attention, even more attention, to that the next couple weeks,” Rodgers said, “because we’ve got to fix that if we want to win games.”The change does present a unique wrinkle to how Falcons coach Dan Quinn prepares his defense. He can get his team ready for the unique skillsets of Rodgers and top receiver Davante Adams. But he can’t study Philbin’s tendencies when it comes to calling plays.“The analogy I told the team today,” Quinn said, “if we all had the same playbook, we wouldn’t all call plays in the same way or the same style even though it’s all part of it.”It helps to have a quarterback of Rodgers’ caliber to have input on concepts and schemes, Quinn said. But there isn’t a lot of background into figuring out Philbin’s tendencies in clutch situations, such as on third down. Quinn calls those “Got to have it moments.”“Those, hey, you better be ready to call your best stuff because those aren’t scripted. Those are off the cuff,” he said.An intangible is the familiarity between Rodgers and Philbin, who was on staff for the quarterback’s rookie season in 2005. They’ve worked together during highly productive seasons. They apparently share a similar sense of humor.“A lot of dry humor. Joe is, every time he talks he reminds us about how simple this game is,” Rodgers said. “It comes down to the little things and he’s always reminding us and harping on those things.”NOTES: RG Byron Bell (knee) and RT Bryan Bulaga (knee/illness), who both left in the second quarter against Arizona, missed practice. … CB Bashaud Breeland (groin) and S Kentrell Brice (ankle/concussion) were limited. … Little-used RB Tra Carson (rib) and starting CB Kevin King (hamstring) were placed on injured reserve. Originally a fifth-round draft pick by New Orleans, Jamerson played in college at Wisconsin.
The rookie quarterback will be monitored in practice this week before the team determines whether he will start against the Buffalo Bills. The first test will be whether he practices fully Wednesday when the Jets get back to work.“That remains to be seen http://www.cowboyscheapauthenticstore.com/trysten-hill-jersey-cheap ,” coach Todd Bowles said during a conference call Monday. “I expect him to be out there. We’ll evaluate him as he goes out there.”Bowles said Darnold took “a great number” of snaps during practice last week and was healthy enough to play against Tennessee on Sunday. But Bowles and the Jets chose to start Josh McCown because the rookie would have some rust after missing two games.Darnold strained his right foot against Miami on Nov. 4 and hasn’t played since.“He was prepared, but you’re not going to come in three days as a rookie and be fresh off your reads and not have any rust to go in a ballgame and play on Sunday after you’ve been out for two weeks,” Bowles said. “You need some time to get your timing back and everything else.“So, we’ll continue to give him reps and when I think he’s ready, he’ll play.”The Jets are 0-3 with McCown as the starter Jachai Polite Jersey , with the 39-year-old QB throwing one TD pass and four interceptions — including one that sealed New York’s 26-22 loss to Tennessee on Sunday. Darnold still leads the NFL with 14 interceptions, despite his three-game layoff.Last week, the No. 3 overall pick said he was eager to play again, but also acknowledged he learned quite a bit from watching rather than playing. That said, the final four games would give Darnold significant experience and give him a chance to end his first NFL season on a positive note.“I’ll just see where he is from an accuracy standpoint Chuma Edoga Jersey , a timing standpoint, (and) a rust standpoint,” Bowles said. “He’s got to see plays and I had him only throwing three (days) last week. He did get better and everything was fine, but he’ll get better even this week and then we’ll make that determination on Sunday.” New Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury was known at Texas Tech for a pass-first offense, but that doesn’t mean a running back can’t get plenty of action in it — and that’s exactly what Cardinals running back David Johnson is expecting.Johnson said he could see himself having the kind of production in Kingsbury’s offense that he had in 2016 Trevon Wesco Jersey , when he led the NFL with 2,118 yards from scrimmage.“It’s been going great. I think it’s going to be a really good offense,” Johnson said, via ArizonaSports.com. “I think it’ll be similar to 2016 but probably more shotgun’s our home, which is good because I did that in college and we had a running quarterback. I think I’ll be utilized as a running back and receiver. I think it’s going to be really helpful Shareef Miller Jersey , only having to worry about one guy trying to tackle you as opposed to three, four guys loading the box.”The Cardinals hired Kingsbury to be an offensive innovator, and in Johnson they have a big-play threat who should have plenty of opportunities.
Although he is suspended for the first eight games of the season Qadree Ollison Jersey , Hunt is with the team now.Browns coach Freddie Kitchens gave an update on Hunt during the draft, saying Hunt is “exceeding expectations.”“He is doing great,” Kitchens said. “He is doing everything we are asking him to do. Exceeding expectations from the standpoint of how he is in the building, how he is around the players and how he is on the field. I have never been around him until now, but that’s what I see and that’s what we have gotten. He is doing things in the community. He is continuing to work on an everyday basis, and he is not taking any days off from the standpoint of becoming a better person Marquise Brown Jersey , a better player, and I think everybody is going to see the benefits of that.”The NFL suspended Hunt for two separate physical altercations under the Personal Conduct Policy. Both incidents happened in his hometown of Cleveland, and the Chiefs cut Hunt Nov. 30 after video surfaced of his assault on a woman. Hunt has played 27 games, with 453 carries for 2,151 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also has caught 79 passes for 833 yards and 10 touchdowns.Nick Chubb will start for the Browns, who insist they also have a role for Duke Johnson. Johnson http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jaylon-ferguson-jersey , who is skipping the voluntary offseason work at the team facility, has asked for a trade. The Chargers still haven’t given Melvin Gordon a raise, and Melvin Gordon is still not there. So even though he has friends and supporters throughout their building, they’ve got a game Sunday to get ready for.And they’re ready to focus on that, and not Gordon’s holdout.Via Eric Williams of ESPN.com, Lynn said he hadn’t talked about the contractual standoff with his team Miles Boykin Jersey , electing to discuss the Colts instead.“My concern right now is on Indianapolis,” Lynn said. “We’ve talked about that for a long time. I’m just ready to move on ? we’re playing games. . . .“We’ve been talking about this for a month and a half. Now, it’s time to play football.”The Chargers have sent out word that they’re not negotiating with Gordon at this point. He’s been given the opportunity to seek a trade, but if he plays for them, it will be under the terms of his existing contract.Veteran center Mike Pouncey said he has talked with Gordon, but made it clear they have to keep their friendship and their work in separate boxes.“We’re all friends with Mel and we want him to get paid http://www.packerscheapshoponline.com/cheap-authentic-darnell-savage-jr.-jersey ,” Pouncey said. “In this league, your time is slim to none to get a big contract, so I think for him he feels like this is his best opportunity to get one.“We’re going to stick with him. We wish he was here to help us win these football games, but at the end of the day he’s going to be a friend of mine way after football, and so I’m going to stick with whatever decision he wants to go with.”And for now, that means playing with a lesser grade of running back.
Torrey Smith to the Carolina Panthers for cornerback Daryl Worley Ben Banogu Jersey , according to two people familiar with the deal. The trade reached on Friday won’t be officially announced until the NFL’s league year opens next Wednesday. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to release the trade information.Smith had 36 catches for 430 yards and two touchdowns while starting 14 games in his first season in Philadelphia. He’ll earn $5 million this season so the move saves the Super Bowl champion Eagles much-needed space under the salary cap.The team acquired three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Bennett from the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.Worley, a third-round pick in 2016, started 25 games in the past two seasons for the Panthers. He joins a crowded secondary. After Browns running back Duke Johnson asked to be traded, Browns General Manager John Dorsey channeled Tommy Lee Jones and essentially said Parris Campbell Jersey , I don’t care. Browns coach Freddie Kitchens feels the same way.“At this point in time, him asking for a trade doesn’t matter to me,” Kitchens said, via ESPN. “He’s a Cleveland Brown. Duke’s the type of the guy who’s going to show up and he’s going to do his job and he’s going do his job well. That’s all I can ask for as a coach. His demands Bobby Okereke Jersey , I’m not impacted by that one bit.”Kitchens insisted that Johnson will be on the roster in 2019.“Duke’s under contract,” Kitchens said. “I’ve said this for a month now, I don’t know where all this trade talk started happening. People just assumed we would trade him because we signed another good football player [Kareem Hunt]. I like good football players, and I like as many as I can get. It’s our job to get him the ball and enable him in whatever role that is. Duke Johnson is on this football team and will have a vital role on this team and will help us win football games. Am I surprised he’s still here? No Khari Willis Jersey , not one bit. I have never said anything different than that.”Johnson played all 16 games last year but had a diminished role in the offense, finishing the season with career-lows in carries, rushing yards, catches and receiving yards. Heading into his fifth season Josh Allen Jersey , Johnson seems like a player the Browns could easily decide to move on from, but Kitchens and Dorsey have both indicated that won’t happen any time soon.
That’s what happened Sunday with running back Leonard Fournette of Jacksonville and tight end Zach Ertz of Philadelphia.Sure Chris Lindstrom Jersey , Fournette missed the Jaguars’ last game before the bye with an ankle sprain, but all signs were that he would play in Week 9. The Eagles told us all week that Ertz was recovered from a hamstring strain, but he couldn’t get the injury to loosen up during pregame warmups and he was forced to miss the contest.Situations like these illustrate the importance of having a bench that can cover late injuries. You want to make sure that you’re covered under just about any injury circumstance. The last thing you want to have to do is go to the waiver wire 90 minutes before the games start Sunday hoping you can find a last minute replacement. Sure, there might be a gift player available, but odds are you will just be picking bones off a waiver carcass. Here’s who you should be looking at for Week 10:MARQISE LEE, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars (43 percent owned)Lee makes this list for the second week in a row. He is miscast as a WR1 for an NFL team but he’s the best of what the Jaguars have since Allen Robinson was lost for the season with an ACL tear. The Jags are a run-first team but with safeties creeping up toward the line of scrimmage in order to stop Fournette or Chris Ivory, Lee will never see double coverage or a safety over the top. He’s a solid WR3.DEDE WESTBROOK, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars (16 percent)It’s extremely dangerous to rely on rookie wide receivers who have missed time due to injury. We have no idea if they know the entire route tree or what kind of rapport they have with the QB, but what we do know with Westbrook is that he was close to being active in Week 9 and will almost certainly be active this week. He could have a bigger role than expected right away due to the lack of playmakers in the Jacksonville passing game and should be worth a pickup.ROBERT WOODS, WR http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/kaleb-mcgary-jersey , Los Angeles Rams (24 percent)How many people realize that the Rams are second in the NFL in points scored (263)? Shouldn’t we all want a piece of this offense? Woods was initially signed by the Rams during free agency to be their WR1, but was sort of forgotten about when the team drafted Cooper Kupp and traded for Sammy Watkins. Well, Kupp has been inconsistent and Watkins is barely startable in fantasy leagues. Woods has been the WR you can most rely on and one would think the passing offense may only get better, as quarterback Jared Goff gains experience and confidence with each game.DANNY WOODHEAD, RB, Baltimore Ravens (36 percent)We are at the point in the season where players who were injured early and placed on injured reserve could be on their way back to the lineup. Woodhead was signed during free agency to be the back who would catch four to six passes out of the backfield each game as a safety valve for QB Joe Flacco. Woodhead could play this week and certainly no later than Week 11. He had success in the past and could be a boon to teams down the stretch. One worry, however, could be that he plays a similar role as Buck Allen, so make sure not to break the bank for him as these backs could cannibalize each other.ROD SMITH, RB, Dallas Cowboys (14 percent)No one knows what will happen with Ezekiel Elliott. What we do know is that the next chapter in this courtroom drama will be heard Tuesday. Should the court once again uphold the suspension, it’s almost a free for all in the Dallas backfield. While Alfred Morris and/or Darren McFadden could get shots at the starting job Kendall Sheffield Jersey , it’s not written in stone that they will get the job done. Some experts believe Smith is the best fit for this run offense and will get the starting job eventually. The bottom line is, if you have a dead spot on your roster, does it really hurt you to pick up Smith just in case he does end up the starter? No, and he could be the type of player that ends up winning a league.——This column was provided to The Associated Press by the Fantasy Sports Network, http://FNTSY.com The Texas Rangers were great until the rain showed up. After that, they were holding on.
The Rangers led 5-0 when heavy showers forced a 29-minute rain delay in the top of the fourth inning Thursday night. The first batter after the delay hit a two-run homer to give the Rangers a 7-0 lead, but it was all Detroit Tigers after that.
The Tigers had the winning run at the plate with no one out in the ninth inning, but closer Keone Kela retired the next three batters to finish off a 7-5 victory and snap a three-game losing streak.
The Rangers didn’t arrive in Detroit until the early hours of Thursday morning after an extra-inning loss to the Astros the previous night.
”We had a tough night last night and some tough travel, but our guys showed up tonight,” Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. ”We needed to get a win to gain some momentum and gain some confidence.”
Yovani Gallardo (3-0) got the win, giving up four runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out two while winning his third straight start.
Kela allowed a run in the ninth – the first he’s given up in 12 career innings against Detroit – before finishing off his 21st save.
Matthew Boyd allowed a season-high seven runs and seven hits in four innings. He is 0-3 with a 10.59 ERA in his last four starts.
”Everyone goes through good stretches and bad stretches at this level, and a lot of it depends on luck http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/john-cominsky-jersey ,” he said. ”Once the game is over, you have to put it away and focus on getting ready to take the ball in five days.”
Tigers bench coach Steve Liddle, who managed while Ron Gardenhire recovered from the heat exhaustion that caused him to leave Wednesday’s loss in Chicago, wasn’t pleased with Boyd’s pitch selection.
”He never threw his fastball, so they were sitting on his soft stuff all night,” Liddle said. ”They saw what he was doing and made adjustments, but he never made any adjustments to counter that.
”You can’t throw the same thing over and over and expect to win games.”
Detroit lost is third straight and dropped to 2-14 since June 17.
”We were down a touchdown early and we had the winning run at the plate in the ninth,” Liddle said. ”That’s something positive we can take from this.”
The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Gallo became one of the few players to clear Comerica Park’s right-field stands with a home run. Gallo came into the game hitting .191 with 20 homers.
Nomar Mazara made it 3-0 with an RBI grounder in the third, and Tigers third baseman Ronny Rodriguez misplayed Adrian Beltre’s grounder to allow a fourth run to score.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s fourth-inning RBI single extended the Rangers’ lead to 5-0 on the final pitch before a 29-minute rain delay. The game had started 15 minutes late due to a brief rain shower.
On Boyd’s fifth pitch after play resumed, Guzman hit a two-run homer to put Texas ahead by seven.
The Tigers made it 7-3 in the bottom of the fourth on RBI singles by John Hicks, Jim Adduci and Rodriguez, but Gallardo got Jose Iglesias to hit into an inning-ending double play.
”It’s tough coming out of the rain delay Qadree Ollison Jersey ,” Gallardo said. ”We were ready to start the game and it rained, and then I had to stay loose through the second one. I gave up those three runs, but we got out of it.”
Goodrum homered in the sixth to make it 7-4.
Rodriguez started the ninth with an infield single and Iglesias reached on an error by third baseman Jurickson Profar. Victor Reyes followed with an RBI single to make it 7-5, but pinch-hitter Jeimer Candelario bounced into a force at second.
Kela struck out Nicholas Castellanos and retired Goodrum to end the game.
TRAINER’S ROOM
Rangers: RHP Chris Martin (groin) was placed on the 10-day disabled list and RHP Ricardo Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock. … LHP Martin Perez (elbow) was scheduled to make his third rehab start for Round Rock on Thursday. Perez has not pitched for the Rangers this season after elbow surgery.
Tigers: Gardenhire was told by doctors to stay in the air-conditioned clubhouse with the heat index approaching 100 degrees at game time. Temperatures are forecast to be much cooler in Detroit on Friday. … RHP Drew VerHagen (broken nose) is expected to make one more rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo before rejoining the Tigers.
BANISTER’S MILESTONE
The win was Banister’s 300th as a manager in his 574th game, making him the fastest manager to 300 wins in Rangers history. ”It’s a nice milestone for the organization and the ball club,” he said. ”I’ve been fortunate enough to be granted a great opportunity here.”

Bartolo Colon (5-5, 4.76) will try to break a tie with Dennis Martinez for most wins by a pitcher born in Latin America when he starts against the Tigers on Friday. Colon is the last active major-league player to have played at Tiger Stadium, which closed in 1999. Jordan Zimmermann (3-0, 3.91) is scheduled to start for Detroit.
BUFFALO Tony Pollard Jersey , N.Y. (AP)was secured when Terry and Kim Pegula purchased the franchise following the death of Hall of Fame owner Ralph Wilson in 2014.Where the team will play its home games – at its current stadium in suburban Orchard Park or at a new downtown Buffalo facility – within the next decade is the question.NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell touched on the topic at league meetings in Florida on Wednesday by saying the Pegulas are ”at a very early stage” in assessing their options. Goodell then left the details to be announced by the owners when they are ready to share them with the community. On Tuesday, Terry Pegula said, ”We talk about that heavily internally, but not publicly,” when asked if the Bills would consider using the opt-out clause in their lease in two years to explore a new stadium site. The Bills later clarified Pegula’s comment by saying he was referring to long-term stadium plans and adding that the team had no plans to opt out of the lease, which expires in the summer of 2023.The Bills maintain they are early in their planning process and have not ruled out any option. They’re also aware that time will become an issue in determining whether the next lease negotiations will focus on a long- or short-term agreement. The questions come down to building a new stadium, either downtown or near the Bills’ existing site; renovating their current home, New Era Field; and how much public money would be spent. One possibility is pairing a new stadium and Buffalo’s need for a new convention center, which would ease concerns over taxpayer money being spent on a stand-alone sports facility.A new stadium alone would cost approximately $1 billion.Staying at New Era Field, which opened in 1973, also wouldn’t come cheap.A stadium site selection study conducted by AECOM Technical Services in 2014 projected it would cost $540 million for the next series of renovations, including structural improvements and rebuilding the stadium’s third deck. The study based its estimates on what it cost the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs to extensively renovate their facilities over the previous decade. And that cost is on top of the $130 million in renovations that took place four years ago, and the $18 million the Pegulas are spending on club seat upgrades this year. The next step would involve the Bills hiring a firm to conduct a feasibility study to identify sites, costs and what best suits a franchise based in one of the NFL’s smallest markets. The AECOM study was commissioned by New York state – not the Bills – at an uncertain time during the sale process. Concerned that someone out of town would purchase the Bills and consider relocating them, Gov. Andrew Cuomo had the study conducted to provide prospective owners a list of options of what the region had to offer. The relocation fear ended once the Pegulas, who own the NHL’s Sabres and have established a corporate base in Buffalo, emerged as the front-runners.The AECOM study can at least still serve as a guide.Of the three downtown stadium sites identified, one is no longer an option because it has since been developed. The site that drew the most attention is a large two-block parcel of street-level parking lots located in the city’s emerging Cobblestone entertainment district. The site is located a block east of the Sabres’ arena and within two blocks of HarborCenter, a $200 million hotel and hockey entertainment facility built by the Pegulas, and the headquarters of Pegula Sports and Entertainment. One person directly involved in discussions three years ago, after the Pegulas purchased the team, told The Associated Press in January that the Bills were focused on building a downtown stadium Noah Fant Jersey , and that the Cobblestone site was regarded as ”one of the prime target areas.” The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the talks were private. It’s unclear whether those plans have changed. At the time, the state was tentatively committed to funding the necessary infrastructure upgrades, such as expanding roadways and access ramps from nearby Interstate 190. The site is also close to public transportation. It’s a five-minute drive from the Peace Bridge border crossing into southern Ontario, a few blocks from the Amtrak Rail station, and within about 15,000 parking spaces.Developer Carl Paladino, who owns a large number of properties in the area, called the Cobblestone site ”the most logical place to put it (a stadium),” in an interview with the AP in January.Kim Pegula outlined the challenges the Bills faced during an interview with the AP in 2014.”You only get to build a stadium once, so we just want to make sure we take our time and do the right thing,” she said. ”We just want to make sure that when the time comes that we have done all our homework and have the best stadium that we can for Buffalo.”The Pegulas have since backed off discussing stadium plans by calling them premature, and added they’re satisfied with the most recent renovations.— NEW YORK (AP) — Sam Darnold had a tough time sitting through film of the game. New York Jets fans certainly know the feeling. After throwing four interceptions in an ugly 13-6 loss at Miami on Sunday , the rookie quarterback shouldered the blame and was looking for answers.“For me, it’s just not playing to the best of my ability and, quite frankly, just playing stupid,” Darnold said Monday. “I thought I played stupid football yesterday and I’ve just got to be better. I know that, the coaches know that and everyone knows that.”Well, yeah. But Darnold isn’t alone. Not by any stretch. Most of the venom from frustrated fans on social media and sports talk radio was directed at coach Todd Bowles, whose hold on his job has become increasingly tenuous as the Jets (3-6) head toward another year — it would be eight straight — without making the playoffs.“I’m sick of losing,” second-year safety Jamal Adams said after the game. “I’m not a loser. I want to get back on the winning track. We’ve lost three straight? Come on, man.”This is now a franchise staring at a crossroads. The Jets have a home game Sunday against the bumbling Buffalo Bills (2-7) http://www.broncosauthorizedshops.com/authentic-dalton-risner-jersey , who somehow look even more inept than their AFC East counterparts.“I think it’s huge,” Bowles acknowledged. “It’s our next game. It’s a division rivalry. … Winning takes care of a lot problems and a lot of issues. It’s important for us to win the next ballgame.”A loss at MetLife Stadium will raise the heat under Bowles’ seat to scorching levels. And, it could force owner Christopher Johnson to seriously re-evaluate things — especially with the team heading into a bye-week break.“People are obviously a little upset, a little disappointed, coming off three straight losses,” defensive lineman Leonard Williams said. “We definitely needed this one. It was a division game and we talked all week about how important it was for us to get this win.”And, they still lost. But there are enough culprits to share the blame.“It’s not just Sam, it’s the team, period,” Bowles said. “Yesterday, it was mainly the offense. It was tweaks here and there, but we just have to play better and execute as a whole.”Darnold, of course, had his worst game to date. Center Spencer Long had several wayward shotgun snaps because of a reinjured right middle finger before Bowles finally pulled him from the game. Jeremy Bates’ offense seemed stuck in neutral, and wide receivers rarely gave Darnold a target. And, even the normally sure-handed Jermaine Kearse had a few drops and capped a bad day by forgetting where he was on the field before catching a pass late in the game while standing out of bounds.“I’m very concerned because we didn’t score a bunch of points the last three weeks,” Bowles said. “We’ve got to find a way to execute better and get it right.”Darnold’s OK with pointing the finger at himself. But it has raised the thought he might be best served sitting for a week just to clear his head while 39-year-old backup Josh McCown takes the field.A quarterback change, however, doesn’t appear to be in the plans.“Not at this time,” Bowles said, “no.”Darnold, the No. 3 overall draft pick Drew Lock Jersey , leads the NFL with 14 interceptions and has struggled during the last three games. He said “I thought I played bad” on Sunday and added he thought the offensive line “blocked their butts off.”Still, the Jets scored six points and have 33 in their last three games combined.“I’ve just got to play smarter, play better,” he said. “Yeah, I definitely feel like I forced some things (Sunday), but at the same time, I feel like there were some throws where I was second-guessing myself and I could’ve pulled the trigger.”The last thing the Jets want is for their still-developing franchise QB is to become increasingly gun-shy.“I think it’s just me at some moments in the game getting in my own head,” Darnold said. “I’ve just got to stay true to my progressions, stay true to the confidence that I normally have, and just go out there and sling it.”The defense was mostly solid, allowing just 168 total yards, the second fewest under Bowles. That included 104 yards passing, the lowest under Bowles.Yet, the Jets still came up short in a game they all acknowledged they should have won.“I think the biggest consensus overall, for the players and for the coaches and as an organization, we all know that sticking together is what’s going to help us continue the season,” Williams said. “If we start dividing now, if coaches start dividing from players and players from players and coaches from coaches — any type of division in this organization — is only going to hinder us.”
THOUSAND OAKS Julian Love Jersey , Calif. (AP) — line has been the epitome of consistent excellence and the bedrock of a wildly prolific offense. When the line failed to reach its own lofty standards last weekend, the Rams (11-2) were reminded just how much they rely on those five blockers to allow Jared Goff and Todd Gurley to do their thing. The line’s shortcomings can be measured most easily, if imperfectly, in the numbers of those skill-position stars in the Rams’ 15-6 loss to Chicago. Gurley rushed for just 28 yards, while Goff was sacked three times and threw four interceptions while under constant pressure from Khalil Mack and the Bears.More broadly, the Rams’ past three opponents have generated significantly more effective pass rushing against Goff than in Los Angeles’ first 10 games. While coach Sean McVay scrambled to accept the blame for his prolific offense’s rare misfire in Chicago http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/darius-slayton-jersey , players across the offense — particularly on the line — also admit they need to be better if the Rams hope to be a real Super Bowl contender.“From the way that we felt after the game, I don’t think it was as bad as we think,” left guard Rodger Saffold said. “But of course, it came down to just fundamentals. When you’re in the heat of the game, especially emotionally, sometimes you do extra in order to try to make things happen, and you put yourselves in bad situations.”The Rams watched every mistake Wednesday during a detailed film session Quinnen Williams Jersey , reminding the linemen that even a unit as finely tuned as the Rams’ offensive line must keep improving.“We learned a lot coming out of that game,” said Aaron Kromer, the Rams’ offensive line coach and run game coordinator. “I think what you learned is when adversity hits at times, to go back to your fundamentals and techniques and not try to do something that’s out of the ordinary. Anytime you get in a big game, it always comes back to staying calm and understanding exactly what you want to get done.”With Michael Bennett, Fletcher Cox and the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles (6-7) visiting the Coliseum on Sunday night, the Rams’ linemen know they’ve got to fix their mistakes quickly.McVay was quick to point out that his play selection is a major factor in the line’s success or failure.“Anytime that you get some pressure http://www.newyorkjetsteamonline.com/jachai-polite-jersey , it’s always a little bit more difficult to operate,” McVay said. “I would say that it’s a combination of some different things. I wouldn’t say it’s been a fall-off (by the offensive line) or anything like that. There’s been specific instances and plays that might stand out that (are) typically uncharacteristic of what we’ve put on tape. But like anything else, we learn from it.”Not many offensive lines in recent history have been more effective or more consistent than the Rams’ group.Los Angeles had the same five starters for 15 games last season before McVay played his second stringers in the regular-season finale. After Austin Blythe replaced Jamon Brown at right guard this season, the Rams again have had the same five starters in all 13 games. That consistency has been a key to the Rams’ success, and the linemen are determined to make sure it doesn’t lead to complacency. Left tackle Andrew Whitworth is a team captain, while Saffold, center John Sullivan and right tackle Rob Havenstein also are veteran leaders of the entire roster.“There’s no sense of sitting here feeling bad for yourselves Chuma Edoga Jersey ,” Saffold said. “Just go out there and play.”A potential downside of the Rams’ consistency and durability popped up in Chicago when both Sullivan and Saffold briefly left the game with injuries. Sullivan returned after being checked for a concussion, while Saffold missed five plays with an ankle injury.Los Angeles has had only two backup offensive linemen on its roster for most of the season, fewer than most teams. Rookie tackle Joseph Noteboom and backup center Brian Allen got some rare playing time, but the developments also reminded the Rams how lucky they’ve been with injuries. So the Rams on Wednesday re-signed lineman Jamil Demby, a sixth-round pick who was waived Sept. 8 when Aaron Donald ended his holdout. Demby had been on the Detroit Lions’ practice squad for the past three months. That help won’t be immediate, however: Although the Rams already know Demby well, Kromer said the rookie has still “got a ways to go as far as being game-ready.” Anyone expecting an offensive explosion in Super Bowl LIII has been left unfulfilled to this point in the proceedings. The Patriots have gotten the better of things offensively http://www.newyorkjetsteamonline.com/trevon-wesco-jersey , but their edge in plays and yards has not resulted in a major edge on the scoreboard. An interception and a missed field goal in the first quarter kept them from building a lead and a failed fourth down conversion in the second quarter added to their misery.A pass to Cordarelle Patterson left the Patriots a yard shy of the line to gain and they opted to go for it from the Rams’ 32-yard-line. Tom Brady threw to tight end Rob Gronkowski and it went incomplete with Rams linebacker Cory Littleton in tight coverage. The choice to pass on a field goal could come back to haunt the Patriots, although Stephen Gostkowski‘s early miss likely factored into the decision. The Rams’ offensive ineptitude may also have been a consideration and they punted for the sixth time in six possessions three plays later to keep the score unchanged.
Ravens and Steelers. If it is not the most historic series in NFL history http://www.ravenscheapstores.com/ben-powers-jersey-cheap , it’s as intense as any. Just listen to what John Harbaugh told his players this week, heading into their visit to Pittsburgh.“One of the things that was said in the meetings … is that you’re not a Raven until you beat the Steelers,” Harbaugh said. “We have some young guys that still need to beat the Steelers.”To remain on top of the AFC North, that’s exactly what Baltimore (2-2) must do. Cleveland is tied with the Ravens, and the Steelers are 1-3, but come off a convincing intra-division victory against Cincinnati. But even if both squads were 0-4, the passion, the hard hits and the fervor of the crowd would make it a highlight of Week 5.“No matter who is playing,” Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley said, “this rivalry is going to be one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports.”While Ravens-Steelers meetings often are decided in the trenches, Pittsburgh’s coaches and players know that stopping fast, versatile and elusive Lamar Jackson is critical to having a chance against Baltimore. So the Steelers brought in a replica of Jackson in Taryn Christion, who ran a similar offense at South Dakota State.“You can’t really replicate (Jackson in practice), but you can get as close as possible,” Steelers defensive back Mike Hilton said. “Having a guy that moves around and is able to keep plays going is going to be big for us. We know we have to have good rush lanes and keep him in the pocket.”Absolutely.Week 5 began Thursday night with the Seattle Seahawks‘ 30-29 home victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Russell Wilson threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Chris Carson on fourth-and-goal with 2:28 remaining to give Seattle the lead, and the Rams’ Greg Zuerlein missed a 44-yard field goal with 11 seconds left. Wilson was 17 of 23 for 268 and four touchdowns for Seattle (4-1). The Rams dropped to 3-2.Off this week are Miami (0-4) and Detroit (2-2).Green Bay (3-1) at Dallas (3-1)Even with both teams losing last week — the Packers‘ defense showed little, and the Cowboys‘ offense showed even less — this is a juicy matchup. It almost always seems to be.The Packers have won seven of the past eight in this series, with Dallas’ victory coming during a franchise-record 11-game winning streak when QB Dak Prescott and RB Ezekiel Elliott were rookies in 2016. And the Packers are 3-0 at AT&T Stadium, including a Super Bowl victory against Pittsburgh.Green Bay could be missing WR Davante Adams, who had a career-high 180 yards receiving against the Eagles but left early with a turf toe injury.Prescott has been perfect in the third quarter this year, completing all 28 passes. He needs one rushing TD to tie Roger Staubach’s club record of 20 by a quarterback.Tampa Bay (2-2) at New Orleans (3-1)The Bucs stunned the Saints in the season opener at the Louisiana Superdome last season. Now, they come off scoring a single-game record 55 points on the road against the defending NFC champion Rams.New Orleans needs that strong pass rush it showed last week in downing Dallas, because Jameis Winston has passed for at least 375 yards and three TDs in two straight outings. In Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, he had dynamic wideouts who each have four TD receptions, tied for first in the NFL.Teddy Bridgewater has won his two starts in place of Drew Brees (thumb surgery), but it’s an aggressive, quick defense that has placed New Orleans atop the NFC South.Cleveland (2-2) at San Francisco (3-0) Monday nightNo team is more of a pleasant surprise than the 49ers. Coming off a bye Iman Marshall Jersey , they could move ahead of the Rams and Seahawks in the standings by remaining undefeated. But Cleveland has won four of the past five in this series between the NFL’s two worst franchises from 2015-18. The Browns are 11-52-1 in that span; 49ers 17-47.Cleveland’s balanced offense led by running back Nick Chubb and receiver Jarvis Landry was huge in last week’s win at Baltimore. The Browns are tied for first place in the AFC North with the Ravens, the first time since Week 10 in 2014 they were on top of the division.Indianapolis (2-2) at Kansas City (4-0)This is their second meeting of 2019, with the Chiefs‘ win over Indianapolis in January their first home playoff victory since Jan. 8, 1994. The Chiefs seek to start 5-0 for a third consecutive season and are odds-on to get it: KC is 11-2 under coach Andy Reid in October. Reid needs one win to reach 200 regular-season victories. He has 211 total, sixth most in NFL history.Adam Vinatieri needs three field-goal attempts to become the second player in league history with 700. Morten Andersen had 709. The Colts kicker is the oldest player in the league at age 46.Atlanta (1-3) at Houston (2-2)A rare meeting: The series tied 2-2.The Falcons don’t prosper against the AFC. They have lost six straight and 12 of their past 13 to AFC opponents. If they don’t improve their turnover margin (minus-5), they can’t expect to contend.Houston, meanwhile, is a plus-2 and has forced a turnover in 17 consecutive games, the NFL’s longest active streak.A key here will be whether Atlanta’s leaky and banged-up pass defense can slow down Deshaun Jackson’s connections with DeAndre Hopkins.Minnesota (2-2) at New York Giants (2-2)The Giants were buried by so many pundits after their first two losses. Then Daniel Jones moved in at quarterback for Eli Manning and, now, the G-Men could wind up tied for the NFC East lead with a win here and a Dallas loss. But, as New York coach Pat Shurmur notes, the Vikings present quite a challenge for any quarterback.“They have outstanding players everywhere,” Shurmur says. “When you start saying, ‘OK, well, this is their best player. No, this guy is their best player.’ All of the guys up front . they have two edge rushers. They have interior guys that can get push. They have linebackers that are Pro Bowlers. They have corners and they have safeties that have all been to Pro Bowls. They’re well-coordinated and they put pressure on the passer, and they do a good job of stopping the run. That’s what you want from a defense.”The Vikings lost five straight outdoor road games, including 16-6 last week at Chicago.Jacksonville (2-2) at Carolina (2-2)Both of these teams were buried after 2-0 starts and injuries to starting QBs Nick Foles and Cam Newton. Guess what! The winner here, whether the Jaguars with rookie Gardner Minshew, or the Panthers with Kyle Allen, also could find itself looking down at the rest of its division.Carolina has the league’s stingiest pass defense, which might not make a lot of difference if Leonard Fournette goes off again. The Jacksonville back had a career-high 225 yards rushing last week and leads the AFC in that department.Coach Ron Rivera (73-58-1) can pass John Fox (73-71) for most regular-season wins in Panthers history. But the Panthers are 0-2 at home.Buffalo (3-1) at Tennessee (2-2)The teams that brought us the Music City Miracle in 2000 — Buffalo folks are still arguing that lateral was a forward pass — meet up in what rarely has been a good series for the Bills. They trail it 28-18, though they have won two straight vs. the Titans by one point each. The Bills can match the franchise’s longest streak to start a season since 1993 with a third road win, but starting QB Josh Allen has been in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Some takeaways would help Buffalo, except Tennessee has committed only one http://www.ravenscheapstores.com/trace-mcsorley-jersey-cheap , a league low. The Titans also have found a strong pass rush.Chicago (3-1) vs. Oakland (2-2) at LondonOakland’s early season trek continues with a trip across the Pond. The Raiders will find there one Khalil Mack, the edge rusher they traded to Chicago before last season. All Mack has done is lead the most rugged defense in football.“Vindictiveness. I like that word,” Mack says of his approach to Sunday’s game. “Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that’s the whole point man. You can’t play this game with too much emotion, man. Ultimately, I try to stay focused on the task at hand and understanding the situation and understanding what they’re going to be thinking that I feel. But ultimately, I’m going to go out there and do what I do, and that’s play football and love the game that I play. You know what I mean?”Sure do: Mack has been showing what he can do his entire career.New England (4-0) at Washington (0-4)Every opponent for the Patriots has been winless going into the matchup this season. So why should the Redskins be any different?New England comes off yet another stellar defensive performance to offset an ineffective offense: Tom Brady’s 45.9 passer rating against Buffalo was the sixth lowest of his career and lowest since finishing with a 34 rating in a 27-20 loss to Indianapolis on Nov. 5, 2006. The Patriots had lost the previous six times Brady finished with a passer rating of 48 or lower, but he might rate about 80 points higher in this one.Washington is in such turmoil — an accurate term politically or athletically — that when coach Jay Gruden was asked about a plan for facing the Patriots, he said he didn’t have one yet. Hopefully the team has one by Sunday.Arizona (0-3-1) at Cincinnati (0-4)There are reasons to watch this game. We just can’t think of any at the moment.OK, maybe tune in to see which of the first-year head coaches might get his initial win: Kliff Kingsbury of the Cardinals or Zac Taylor of the Bengals.Or, if you like seeing QBs get knocked down, the Cardinals have given up a league-high 20 sacks, followed by the Bengals with 19.New York Jets (0-3) at Philadelphia (2-2)New York has been hopeful that Sam Darnold will return less than a month after contracting mononucleosis. One must hope coach Adam Gase isn’t thinking about rushing back his franchise quarterback, particularly with this season seemingly a lost cause.Philly comes off a super-impressive win at Green Bay, the first time the Eagles truly looked like a contender. Their defense is short-handed, though, and they need their receiving group to heal up quickly.Denver (0-4) at Los Angeles Chargers (2-2)One disappointing team, and one total flop through 25 percent of the season. The Broncos have perfected losing close games, and struggle moving the ball on the ground and stopping the run. Which means LA, much more proficient through the air, might give lots of work to its deep stable of running backs. 7. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (5-11)LAST SEASON: There’s no way to sugarcoat disappointment of not ending decade-long playoff drought on heels of going 9-7 two years ago. Shoulder injury that affected QB Jameis Winston much of season was just part of problem. Running game sputtered, Winston had difficulty throwing deep to DeSean Jackson after speedy receiver signed three-year, $33.5 million contract in free agency, and what coach Dirk Koetter believed was capable of being high-scoring offense struggled getting into end zone. Defensively, team took big step backward David Montgomery Jersey , too, finishing last with 23 sacks.THEY NEED: CB, RB, S, DE, DT, RG, RT.THEY DON’T NEED: QB, WR, TE.POSSIBLE FIRST PICK: DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama; S Derwin James, Florida State; G Quenton Nelson, Notre Dame; CB Denzel Ward, Ohio State, DE Marcus Davenport, UTSA; DT Vita Vea, Washington.OUTLOOK:With Winston entering fourth season, heat is on Koetter and general manager Jason Licht to not only escape NFC South cellar but make playoffs for first time since 2007. Top priority has been improving defensive and offensive lines. Licht addressed sagging pass rush by trading for former Giants sackmaster Jason Pierre-Paul and bolstered run defense by signing ex-Eagles Vinny Curry and Beau Allen in free agency. Addition of ex-Ravens center Ryan Jensen, whose arrival frees Ali Marpet to move to left guard, is big, too. Still, there are plenty more holes to fill, especially insecondary where CB Brent Grimes turns 35 in July and CB Vernon Hargreaves III, first-round draft pick two years ago, lost starting job last season.—
FLOWERY BRANCH Julian Love Jersey , Ga. (AP) — conditioning program without wide receiver Julio Jones for the second straight year.Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett also did not attend the launch of the offseason program, which started Monday and continued Wednesday. The Falcons placed a $15.209 million franchise tag on Jarrett and hope to negotiate a new long-term deal with the leader of the team’s defensive front.Jones, 30, also missed last season’s offseason conditioning program and mandatory minicamp while seeking a new contract. He reported for the start of last year’s training camp following an adjustment to his five-year, $71.5 million contract, and he led the NFL in yards receiving.General manager Thomas Dimitroff said recently he has had productive talks with Jones and his agent and said there is “no timeline” on his hopes for an agreement.“We’ll continue to talk with both Julio and his representation,” Dimitroff said. “Again, we have really good conversations with them. So there’s no particular time on that. I’m not concerned on that, nor is he. I know we’ll get that figured out. I know there’s interest because of what has gone on with the receivers in the league. There’s some big numbers talked about.”Jones’ base salary for 2019 is $9.6 million, which according to Spotrac ranks only 15th among NFL wide receivers. Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans leads the position with his $17 million base salary in 2019.Jones is set to earn $11.4 million in 2020, the final year of the contract. He was an AP All-Pro second-team selection last season, when he had 113 catches for 1,677 yards and eight touchdowns. Jones has reached 1 http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-darius-slayton-jersey ,000 yards in five straight seasons. He has been named to five straight Pro Bowl teams, and six overall.Jarrett, 25, was seen as one of the top free agents at defensive tackle before given the franchise tag.Jarrett was a bright spot in the Falcons’ disappointing 2018 season. He set career highs with six sacks and three forced fumbles. Dimitroff said talks with Jarrett could extend to the start of training camp in July. NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Sean Payton was glassy-eyed, calm and shrugged his shoulders at times, seemingly resigned to New Orleans’ bitter fate — as unfair as he thought it was.And the Saints coach said NFL executives he spoke with by phone after a 26-23 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Rams agreed with him that officials on the field missed two obvious penalties on one late, game-turning play that might have prevented the Saints from advancing to the Super Bowl.Officials could have called pass interference and helmet-to-helmet contact on Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman as he flattened Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis on an incomplete pass inside the Rams 10-yard line with 1:45 left in a tie game. The play occurred in close range of two officials along the sideline who never pulled out their flags.NFL senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron “couldn’t believe” no penalty call was called on the play, Payton said.“It’s tough to get over it,” Payton said. “My problem with it is, I just don’t know, if we were playing pickup football in the backyard … it was as obvious a call — and how two guys can look at that and arrive at their decision? It happened though.”As anger-infused, full-throated boos rained down relentlessly from the Superdome stands, replays on the stadium’s expansive video screens clearly showed Robey-Coleman’s high hit occurring before Drew Brees‘ pass toward the right sideline arrived at the spot where Lewis might have tried to make a play on the ball if he weren’t being knocked to the turn.“I bounced up looking for a flag and didn’t see one Quinnen Williams Jersey , so I was kind of shocked about that,” Lewis said. “I saw what everybody else saw.“You all feel like it was obvious? There it is. Everybody knows it was obvious,” Lewis added. “I don’t know what else to say about it.”Even Robey-Coleman seemed surprised.“Came to the sideline, looked at the football gods and was like, ‘Thank you,'” Robey-Coleman said. “I got away with one tonight.”Rams coach Sean McVay, now headed to his first Super Bowl at age 32, was less inclined to scrutinize the call publicly.“Certainly I’m not going to complain about the way it was officiated, but I thought it was a competitive play,” McVay said. “I thought they let the guys compete within the framework of the rules and that’s part of what NFL football is about.”Had a flag been thrown, the Saints would have run the clock down to the final seconds before setting up a short field goal try clinch the franchise’s second NFC title, Payton said. Instead, the Saints had to try the kick with more than 1:40 left — enough time for the Rams to drive for a tying field goal. The game then went to overtime http://www.jetsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jachai-polite-jersey , when an interception by Rams safety John Johnson III set up Greg Zuerline’s 57-yard game-winning field goal.“We’ll probably never get over it,” Payton added.Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who at age 40 is running out of chances to get to a Super Bowl, said it was “tough to swallow” the non-call.“Plenty of times throughout the season, there’s calls that go against you, go for you,” Brees said. “But obviously in a situation like that where it seemed like everybody in the world saw it, it’s tough.”Both Payton and Brees suggested that the way the call tarnished the result of a conference title game could stimulate discussion about widening replays to look at reviewing certain penalties committed at certain points of the game, as has happened in the NBA.“There’s just too much at stake,” Payton said. “And listen, it’s a hard job for those guys. It’s happening fast. But I don’t know if there was ever a more obvious pass interference.“We all want to get it right, right? We’ve got plenty of technology to speed things up,” Payton added. “Look Chuma Edoga Jersey , I’m on the competition committee. So, hopefully that provides a voice. I hope no other team has to lose a game the way we lost that one today, though. We were in position. … We’d be on our knee for three plays and — it’s disappointing.”Brees said he expects the NFL’s replay rules to “constantly evolve as they try to make this game batter and try to make sure that it is as fair as possible.”“There’s a lot happening out there and it happens very, very fast,” Brees said. “Obviously, if they were replaying pass interference or if somebody got hit early before the ball got there, then I’m sure that would have been reviewed today — and it would been found that that was P.I.“It’s easy to sit here and criticize. I’m sure that because of this, as a result of this, I’m sure there will be a lot of talk about potentially reviewing penalties,” Brees added. “Just like all the reviews that go up in the booth inside of two minutes. Maybe that’s something that will happen in regards to certain penalties as well that are game-changing penalties, which obviously that was today.”
Head coach Matt Nagy said that safety Eddie Jackson and wide receiver Allen Robinson will both be listed as doubtful for their matchup with the Vikings. Jackson also missed last Sunday’s game with an ankle injury while Robinson has been out of practice with injured ribs.Nagy said linebacker Aaron Lynch is also unlikely to play against the Vikings due to an elbow injury. The absences will impact the Bears’ chances of getting a win they need in order to have a chance of moving into the No. 2 spot in the NFC playoffs. They’d also need the Rams to lose to the 49ers Garrett Bradbury Jersey , so the result may wind up being a moot point when all is said and done anyway.Nagy said this week he’d be keeping an eye on that game and could adjust his plans for who plays based on the Rams’ result. Any further changes to the lineup would likely work against the Eagles, who need a win and a Vikings loss to extend their season. MIAMI (AP) — Five-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh officially was released Wednesday by the Miami Dolphins at the start of free agency, and the team made official the trades to acquire defensive end Robert Quinn and send Jarvis Landry to the Cleveland Browns.Miami also announced the release of tight end Julius Thomas http://www.vikingsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-irv-smith-jr.-jersey , which had been expected. The Dolphins decided to keep right tackle Ja’Wuan James, which guarantees him $9.34 million in 2018.Restructured contracts for quarterback Ryan Tannehill and Pro Bowl safety Reshad Jones cleared $18 million in cap space. The Dolphins converted $16.7 million of Tannehill’s 2018 salary to bonus pay, underscoring their long-term investment in him Alexander Mattison Jersey , and converted $9.4 million of Jones’ salary this year to bonus pay.Suh was halfway through the $114 million, six-year deal he signed when he joined the Dolphins in 2015. Along with the incentive of creating $17 million in cap space this year, the move was widely seen as part of coach Adam Gase’s attempt to improve the locker room culture following a 6-10 season.Suh’s standoffish personality raised questions about his leadership http://www.vikingsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-dru-samia-jersey , and he has never been on a team that won a playoff game.Landry went to the Browns for a fourth-round draft pick this year and a seventh-rounder in 2019. Quinn was acquired from the Los Angeles Rams for a fourth-round pick, and the teams swapped sixth-round choices.Thomas was a disappointment in his lone season with Miami, catching 41 passes for 388 yards and three scores.Miami tendered three exclusive rights free agents: center Jake Brendel Daniel Jones Jersey , linebacker Mike Hull and defensive back Jordan Lucas. The team declined to tender offensive lineman Anthony Steen, linebacker Neville Hewitt, quarterback David Fales or running back De’Veon Smith Ed Oliver Jersey , making them free to negotiate with any team.131<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:Miami Dolphins cheerleadersSteve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports | Steve Mitchell
Washington running back Adrian Peterson has made about $100 million in salary Michael Jordan Jersey , and millions more in endorsements, during his NFL career. But he’s deep in debt after his lawyer says he trusted people who ripped him off.“situation is more than is being reported at this time,” attorney Chase Carlson said in a statement. “Because of ongoing legal matters, I am unable to go into detail http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-hunter-renfrow-jersey , but I will say this is yet another situation of an athlete trusting the wrong people and being taken advantage of by those he trusted. Adrian and his family look forward to sharing further details when appropriate.”The statement came hours after TheAthletic.com reported that Peterson is being sued in Pennsylvania for failing to pay back a $5.2 million loan. In two separate matters, judges have ordered Peterson to pay $2.4 million to one creditor and $600,000 to another creditor.Despite the fortune Peterson has made, he appears to be nearly broke Zach Brown Jersey , with debts that he is struggling to pay, and debts that he’ll continue to struggle to pay even after getting a $1.5 million signing bonus to remain in Washington this year, with another $1 million in salary on the way for the season. Thursday morning’s report that the Bears are set to start Chase Daniel at quarterback against the Giants this Sunday hasn’t been confirmed by the Bears, but there’s no sign that they will be moving in another direction.Mitchell Trubisky was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday for the first time since injuring his right shoulder and head coach Matt Nagy said that the same will be true at Thursday’s session. Nagy also outlined one of Trubisky’s limitations and it’s a pretty big one even when you take into account the fact that Trubisky is a good running quarterback.Nagy said that Trubisky did not throw on Wednesday and will not throw on Thursday Shareef Miller Jersey , so his practice involvement will be limited to other activities once again on Thursday.Friday will bring official injury designations for this weekend and all the evidence on hand would make it surprising if Trubisky isn’t ruled out for the second straight week.
Miami Dolphins’ stadium Noah Fant Jersey , with the kickoff planned in 2019. Miami-Dade County commissioners unanimously approved an agreement Tuesday that ended a brief impasse and allows the tournament to leave its longtime home on Key Biscayne. The event will be held there one final time beginning in March. The agreement involved the county, Dolphins and IMG, which owns the Miami Open. Mayor Carlos Gimenez said the commission vote seals the deal for the tournament to move to the NFL team’s site. Showcase matches will be held in the 65,000-seat stadium, temporarily revamped for tennis. Permanent outer courts will be constructed in the adjacent parking lot. A final agreement was delayed two weeks ago because of a previously undisclosed audit concerning how much money the tournament owes the county. The revised deal called for the Miami Open to pay up to $1.819 million to the county for tournaments through 2017, increasing potential payments by IMG by about $500,000. Tournament officials had no comment Tuesday Dalton Risner Jersey , spokesman Sam Henderson said. The event has been held on Key Biscayne since 1987, and its future has been in question since a 2015 appeals court decision that prevents upgrades to the complex there. The Miami Open still draws most of the world’s top players, along with more than 300,000 spectators each year, but has declined in prestige because of its aging complex. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, who also owns the stadium, said last spring he was willing to invest in a tennis center on stadium grounds because he wanted to keep the tournament in South Florida. There had been speculation the Miami Open might relocate Drew Lock Jersey , with potential sites ranging from South America to China. Instead it will move 18 miles north to a complex that has hosted Super Bowls and college national championship games. The stadium has undergone $500 million in renovations in recent years. — The Broncos will be paying Joe Flacco $18.5 million this year under the contract that officially will be absorbed via trade in 10 days. No one will be paying Ryan Tannehill $18.75 million this year under a contract that officially will be terminated in 10 days.Yes, Tannehill has a base salary of $18.75 million for 2019. And that’s all anyone needs to know about whether someone will trade for Tannehill. That isn’t stopping the Dolphins from trying to move him. As explained by Armando Salguero of the , however, the conversations consist of the Dolphins contacting other teams to see if someone/anyone is interested in the 2012 top-10 pick. A trade will happen if, and only if, Tannehill agrees to take a massive pay cut. There’s no reason for Tannehill to do that, however. It makes more sense to be cut and to pick his next destination as a free agent Andy Isabella Jersey , whether it’s in Washington as the starter, New York as the backup to Sam Darnold (Tannehill would be reunited with Adam Gase) or in Cincinnati as the backup to Andy Dalton (coach Zac Taylor’s father-in-law, Mike Sherman, has a history with Tannehill dating back to Texas A&M and continuing at Miami). However it plays out, there’s no way the Dolphins will be keeping Tannehill. He has a cap number of $26.6 million for 2019. Cutting him with a post-June 1 designation eventually would clear his $18.75 million salary, but the Dolphins would still carry $7.861 million in dead money for 2019, along with $5.561 million in dead money for 2020. Cutting Tannehill without the post-June 1 designation would push the dead money charge to $13.422 million for 2019 Jamel Dean Jersey , but the Dolphins would still save nearly $13.2 million in cap space this year — and Tannehill would be off the books in 2020.Whether he’s off the books in 2020, he’ll definitely be off the roster. And it won’t happen via a trade of his contract.
Drew Lock in for a visit wasn’t just a one-off chance to meet a particular guy. They’re apparently trying to cast a wide net.According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Gardner Minshew II Jersey , the Packers were trying to arrange a visit for Duke’s Daniel Jones, but were unable to get him in.Teams can only bring players in for visits until Wednesday, and are then limited to on-campus workouts between then and the draft. The Packers hadn’t been linked to quarterbacks in this year’s class prior to the Lock news Christian Wilkins Jersey , and attempts to check out multiple quarterbacks suggests a broader interest. They’re obviously secure for the near future with Aaron Rodgers, but few teams in the modern NFL have been as effective stacking and stashing multiple quarterbacks. That strategy goes back to Ron Wolf’s tenure as General Manager, and they were always able to flip spare parts because they were fortunate to have Brett Favre and then Rodgers. It was only last month that Antonio Brown tweeted “keep your emotions off the internet.” The Raiders receiver didn’t heed his advice.Brown tweeted “Two face” Monday. It did not come in the form of a reply or a retweet. He provided no other context. But his tweet came only hours after Ben Roethlisberger sat down with KDKA and talked about his severed relationship with Brown. The Steelers quarterback offered a belated apology to Brown for calling him out publicly following a late interception in a loss to the Broncos.“I took some heat and deservedly so for some of the comments on that [radio] show and especially towards him Michael Deiter Jersey ,? Roethlisberger said. “I genuinely feel bad about that and I’m sorry. Did I got to far after that Denver game? Probably.“. . .That’s the thing about media and social media: As soon as you say ‘sorry,’ it only goes so far. You can’t take it back, and I wish I could because if that’s what ruined our friendship and relationship Daniel Jones Jersey , I am truly, genuinely sorry about that.”
